Got a response from Make Music. It is a known issue that needs to be resolved by software developers.

Finale 27 Lag
Just installed 27 and thank God I didn't install over 26. I brought up a score I had been previously working on and activated the mixer to enhance some of the instrument volume levels on play back. Everything appeared to play back fine but when I stopped it, the mixer greyed out for about 3-4 second...
