Here's what I'm going to try using tomorrow.

Finale can not read your mind (at least not yet; and it can not yet make coffee). The fret numbers are Finale’s best attempt at notating the given music in Tablature Notation. Yes, thank you. I've been looking in the manual and in the settings of your file, and don't quite understand where you're making the changes. To make things easier, here is a file with all the notes we are able to play, from G3 to G5. Finale shows the numbers as -3, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10...

Not a problem. I *don't* want it to use the numbers 8 and up. Finale tablature is using them. If I select a measure and lower it an octave, it turns out it will use -3s and -1s. (I've attached my finale file to show you this.) I cut and pasted from my other score into yours, and it made it tablature...

I mean, I don't want it to.

It has the tonic as 1 and the octave above it as 8.
2 and 9
3 and 10

This is great. The only think I have left to figure out is if Finale can only use the numbers 1 through 7 rather than 8 and up.

What's the easiest way to drag the notes from one stave to the others given that now the melody line will straddle three staves?
