Does Finale let you set the bit rate?
Not that I know — I haven't found that option. It produces Bit Rate: 128 kbps / Sample Rate: 44100 Hz, 16-bit MP3 files.

Re: How do you save/export a file as an MP3?

The ability to change the default format or use something like the Keyboard Maestro macros is especially useful if you need to export a lot of files, as it can save you a lot of time (and a lot of clicks). There's no real need for the occasional audio export, but sometimes you need to export a lot o...

Re: How do you save/export a file as an MP3?

Same here! But I could not get past the --> Export --> Audio file… step. I have no idea how to reach the Type drop-down option.

Re: How do you save/export a file as an MP3?

Is there a way to set the default file export type to MP3 instead of aiff?

Re: Key Signature Accidental Octave Placement

Hi Peter, That's exactly what I needed, thank you! I did my best to follow the instructions in Finale's help page but there are so many different parameters to combine that I somehow I never got it right. Besides following your explanation (Clef: 4, Unit: -1, Octave: -2), I noticed yet another param...

Re: Key Signature Accidental Octave Placement

Hi Peter, thanks for your reply. I need a key signature of only 1 flat (B ♭). I copied every parameter from your file in the Key signature dialogue box, but still no changes. I'm attaching a Finale file in case you could take a look. Thank you!

Re: Key Signature Accidental Octave Placement

My key signature is B flat. The placement of the flat on the first staff (C3 clef) is ok; it is the one belonging to the F5 bass clef that I'd like to place on the third line of the bass staff.

Key Signature Accidental Octave Placement

Hello, I can't figure out how to lower the b flat in the bass part's (F5 clef) key signature to the third line (an 8ve lower). I've followed the steps described here http://usermanuals.finalemusic.com/FinaleMac/Content/Finale/KECLFDLG.htm?cshid=171 , but the flat doesn't change its position no matte...

Re: Labelling intervals between parts

Thank you, Mike and Peter. I'll explore both options and see what feels easier. Both methods should facilitate the numbers input. As for the colours, do you think Finale scripts could be helpful? I'm not at all familiar with them, but I was wondering whether there'd be a way they could make the colo...

Re: Labelling intervals between parts

I would use lyrics. Turn off word extensions, and you should have no problems. If you really want the colors, “print” the doc as a PDF, and add the numbers in Preview. To print with the colors, you should have a printer setting to Print Display Colors, or something like that. Assuming you have a co...

Re: Labelling intervals between parts

Sorry if my previous post and image were a bit cryptic. 1) In what clefs are the three staves in your attached example? 2) What is the key signature in your attached example? See a new transposed version attached below. 3) Are the numbers measuring chromatic half-steps or diatonic steps? My guess is...

Labelling intervals between parts

Hi! I'd appreciate some advice on how to label intervals by adding numbers in between the different parts of a score in Finale. What do you think would be the most efficient way to do it? It's somehow similar to adding a figured bass, but I'd need to do it in several parts rather than only above (or...

Just for the sake of completeness.

Attached a “5+4” version.

To make the symbol look “lighter” I used thinner horizontal strokes (compared to the horizontal strokes in an ordinary sharp).

But the {nine-stroke sharp} still looks “ginormous”.
Brilliant! Many thanks, Peter.

Re: Creating a custom nine-stroke sharp symbol

Thank you both for your answers and the Finale file! I've managed to draw the custom sharp myself but, while it looks OK, I wish I could replicate the automatic positioning of standard sharps. Since it's considerably bigger than a standard one, it needs extra room and while I can drag and manually p...

Re: Creating a custom nine-stroke sharp symbol

Many thanks for your suggestion! I've searched for it (went from 4.18, Standard accidentals to 4.38, Other accidentals and then looked at 4.88, Medieval and Renaissance accidentals) but it seems it's not there either :(

Creating a custom nine-stroke sharp symbol

Hi! for my doctoral dissertation, I’d need to use a microtonal glyph that is not currently included in Finale Maestro nor November 2's current version (2.3.1). It'd be a nine-stroke sharp symbol or, following November 2's terminology, “Two & a half sharps with four strokes” (5 vertical lines x 4 hor...
