Re: ScoreMerge Deletes Formatting of Destination Document
SHORT STORY: Worked like a charm! I especially like the clarity of your instructions. TOO MUCH INFORMATION?: For the record:The result omitted many of the staves in my 2nd movement. However this is not a problem, since I will probably add very few new staves to the work, and will just copy the extra...

ScoreMerge Deletes Formatting of Destination Document
Hi, I read the manual, but after merging, the destination document's stave attributes (time signatures on top staff only) have been destroyed. Now time signatures (my big ones) appear on every staff. Worse, I don't know what lese have been removed. The reason I merged into this destination document ...

Re: No Garritan Sounds
Can you open the Aria player?
Can you see if there's output from it when you play your MIDI keyboard or use Playback of the score?
If I had more information I could help more.
Have you sucessfully used Finale and Garritan before or is this your first time?

Re: Changing Meters Adds Rests Between Formerly Adjacent Notes
Good news! I think Brian Mulroney at Finale Powerusers may have the answer. I would love all of you to try his method with your own, more complex examples and let us know if it works! It works for me in the simplest scenario I have posted on FB and provided a Dropbox link for below:. (I am still not...

Re: Importing midi files to different staves.
I don't believe Finale will open multiple files into a dsingle document. I would combine the MIDI files in my sequencer, butting each on a different MIDI channel for ease in setting up Finale import map. OR I would open each file in a seperate Finale document, then copy and paste all of them into on...

Re: Sound Maps/sample libraries??
Hi, I can confirm that all my Garritan Libraries AND Smartmusic Softsynth and NotePerformer show on a Mac 27.3 version of Finale. My guess is that you need to read more on how to install those libraries on a Win machine, reboot and look again. (I have tried copying those libraries from one Mac to an...

Re: Changing Meters Adds Rests Between Formerly Adjacent Notes
I am sorry if I did not respond to Motet's suggestion: Yes, I tried the Rebar option. Finale techs confirm my experiments - there is no way Finale will flow the notes to the left, if you have changed a bar to have a meter with more beats in it than formerly. Finale recognizes the need to flow the no...

Re: Motet's transposition chart
Hi motet,
Thanks for the chart - I think it will come in useful as a checklist for me.
I think you have omitted contrabass (string bass) which IS a string that is transposed (contra the discussion in this thread stating there are no transposing strings.) It is written an octave above its sound.

In no way meaning to cast any aspersions on you, since I do this myself - Have you set a range of systems (in the same window as changing the margin) to which the change applies?

Finale v27 Cannot Do Certain Meter Changes?
After working on this for a while, here's my theory - tell me I am wrong and there's a way to do this and I will be grateful! Finale CANNOT change meters like the following: when 7/16 is followed by 4/4, changing the 7/16 to 9/16 is not possible.Any such change cannot be made because Finale distorts...

Re: copying custom percussion layouts to v25
Thanks for the quick and complete response! Just to unpack the conseuences a bit, are these concerns warranted?: 1.when using Finale v27 on my 2 Mac installs, I must be careful whenever I edit a percussion map on one Mac to replace the corresponding xml file on the other Mac a. If I am working on a ...

Re: copying custom percussion layouts to v25
In Finale 27.3.0.160 for Mac, the MIDI Map seems to be an entry in the xml file that is: 1. named after the "Device" you selected in the MIDI Map Editor 2. stored in Users ▸ [yourUserName] ▸ Library ▸ Application Support ▸ MakeMusic ▸ Finale 27 ▸ MIDI Device Annotation (an identically ...

Re: large film score time signatures
Hi, I can get the large TS to show on the piccolo staff - which is the top staff on many pages. But when that staff is hidden, as it is on some pages, there is no time signature on that page. Finale v 27.3 lets me pick "top staff" for measure numbers. Is it possible to pick "top staff" for time sign...

Re: Changing Meters Adds Blank Space
Hi N Grosinglnk, Thanks for introducing me to the plugin - I will save it for future use. Unfortunately it won't help here, because: 1. it cannot handle compound meters like 4+3/16 2. It cannot split a 7/16 bar into 4/16+3/16 3. It cannot flow notes that no longer fit in a bar after you've changed t...

Re: Question Marks When Pasting From Another Document
I'm pasting from vv27.3.0.160 to vv27.3.0.160 - BUT the source was originally a template made in F2012. How would I reconcile the SMuFL discrepancy that you tink could be the problem? In Font Utilities "Import SMuFL Engraving settings from default music font is grayed out and unchecked. I did not pi...

Question Marks When Pasting From Another Document
Hi, It seems my articulations and dynamics are being replaced by question marks in boxes when I copy and paste from one document to another. (Also tried dragging.) I have exported/imported all libraries from the source to the destination - this changes nothing. I do not have any specially created ar...

Re: Changing Meters Adds Blank Space
I wanted those notes to flow into the next bar, (without adding a new bar!) keeping the same distance between all notes at all times. This is the way Digital Performer behaves. I want to simply rebar the existing stream of notes - I don;t want to alter the stream of notes. Here's what it looks like ...

Hi Peter, Thanks for responding. I know a pic is worth 1000 words; which is why the error message when I tried to attach the screenshots was so frustrating.
