Re: 1st and 2nd repeat signs in Finale 2003 (no snickers, please)

<<You will find that LOTS has changed, and you'll need to learn all the things that are different.>> Okay, and maybe a feature I desired is included in the present Finale: the ability to "copy and paste" page layouts for a "certain page" in the score. Let's say that "page 2 of a score" has page layo...

Re: 1st and 2nd repeat signs in Finale 2003 (no snickers, please)

My manual mentions "Plug-ins", but I have no knowledge of plug-ins. And, you are checking your 2003 manual? I have a question, is there a reason you don't upgrade to 27.4? It is a well worth it upgrade and has a First and Second endings tool that does this automatically. The ans. as to why I haven'...

1st and 2nd repeat signs in Finale 2003 (no snickers, please)

Hi, everyone I searched in my Finale 2003 Help for info on 1st and 2nd repeat signs in Finale 2003 (no snickers, please). If someone can answer where (in what Tool -- and the exact wording of the option) I am able to specify the number of measures of the first ending, I would appreciate it. My manua...

Re: Hymnal Arrangement

The F7/A you mentioned -- is it the one in meas. 12 of the chorus? If so, would it be okay to add a "middle C" to the F7/A -- to "beef it up?" <<Any thoughts on this SATB/Hymnal arrangement?>> Since you have used some shorter note values while other notes were sustained, would you consider using lon...

Re: deleting a note (hiding a note)

Peter Thomsen said:
<<I took a good look at “Song for Peace”, but I was unable to find that extra 'g'.
Where is it? - in what measure?>>

I also looked for it, and since I've updated files of it I also am unable to find that extra 'g'. It has either been deleted or been replaced by another note.

Re: uncooperative articulation

It's great to reconnect with the forum and also with Finale. The key combinations and shortcuts are slowly coming back -- so much that I can use some of them without having to depend on the Help Table of Contents and my own extensive notes. I think you have great forum here! (I tried Peter Thomsen's...

uncooperative articulation

In a Finale composition, I'm unable to move an articulation to a place within the staff. Is anyone here able to do it?

The articulation can be found in measure 30 at the very end of the measure (it's the number five).

When I try to move it upwards, it "jumps" to a position above the staff.

deleting a note (hiding a note)

My question is about deleting notes either in Speedy or Simple Entry. There's an "extra 'g'" in "A Song for Peace" (the piece I submitted in a previous thread) that I'd like to delete before I "print" the file as a pdf file. How does one delete (or hide) a note in Finale without having the subsequen...

Thanks for all of your suggestions.

How does one "start the wrong way." I, as a novice, don't understand how one can "start the wrong way?"

Re: moving Speedy rests

Okay, I checked out your suggestion using Simple Note Entry, and it worked! Here are some of the "accompanying behaviors" I found: (1) the movement of the note I clicked on had finite up-and-down movement, (2) sometimes a note in the same metric position would move in another staff and the note I cl...

<<2. Again, in Simple entry, Ctrl+click on the note, then use up- and down-arrow to move it.>>

. . . sounds simple enough. I'll try it later on. Thank you.

Re: moving Speedy rests

Here's a piece that shows default rests that are too high, in my estimation. On clicking on them and trying to move them, the rests turn into notes (not something I want). (I hope to submit this piece soon.) (Although the date shown in File Explorer for this file is wrong, I believe it is the file w...

moving Speedy rests

In accordance with the onboard Finale help, I've been clicking on Speedy rests in an attempt to move them to the best-looking location on the staff. But when I do this, the rests turn into notes -- a large majority of the time. Does anyone here have a suggestion for moving rests on the staff? (I've ...

Re: Finale notes appear on wrong place in staff

Thanks, guys, for persisting in trying to find an answer.

At this end, I persisted on my own and made one change -- clicking on "Use MIDI keyboard for input". Immediately, subsequent to doing this, my input problem cleared up. (I'm going to post one more q tonight about another issue.)

Re: Finale notes appear on wrong place in staff

I put my "Accessory CD ROM" from Yamaha into my computer and you can see "USBdrv_" and "USBdrv2k_" in the results.

Can someone here say if I am supposed to import these into Finale?

Re: Finale notes appear on wrong place in staff

Also, pressing a number on my "typewriter keyboard" (after setting the cursor on that note) results not in a rest -- but an "extraneous note." That's the way Simple entry is supposed to work. A 3 adds a note a third above, a 4 a fourth above, etc. Use the keypad numbers to specify a duration. To en...

Re: Finale notes appear on wrong place in staff

<<As far as pressing an A and getting a D, does your keyboard have a transpose feature?>> Yes, but here are the reasons I don't believe it was used: 1. Transpose was set to 00 (which is no change). 2. I then set Transpose to 02 (which is up a major 2nd) and turned off the keyboard. 3. Transpose was ...

I was able to uninstall Finale and reinstall it. The misbehavior mentioned in the original post still occurred.

Yes, unfortunately without success.

Finale notes appear on wrong place in staff

If I depress a note on my Yamaha DGX-203 keyboard in Speedy Entry, followed by a "5" on my "typewriter keyboard," with the cursor centered in the "correct place," the note or notes on the Finale staff appear in the wrong place. (I depress an "a," and then a "d" appears in Finale.) Also, pressing a ...
