Re: Accidental Parentheses

Thanks for your suggestions. I primarily use the Jazz font, but I'll look into the others. I also thought of the articulation tool, but that's a lot of additional work if you have some fairly chromatic piece.

Thanks very much.

Accidental Parentheses

Is it possible to adjust the spacing of the parentheses around accidentals. I've always elected not to use them because of the cluttered look. I'd use them if I could move the parentheses further away from the accidental, to make for easier reading. I've search the forum regarding this and haven't s...

Re: Printing on 11 X 17

Actually, your first suggestion fixed it. I guess I had not tried that combination. Here's what I did: deselected the option in the Save and Print preference; in Page Setup I identified the printer, paper size and chose landscape as a layout; in the print dialog box under Finale 2014.5 I chose 2-up ...

Re: Printing on 11 X 17

It was selected. So, to see if it made a difference, I deselected it and went through several print steps and it didn't seem to make a difference. Still a large blank border around each page. Thanks for your suggestion though. Anything else?

Printing on 11 X 17

I have a new printer that prints 11 x 17 but I'm having a problem getting the pages to display in full size. By full size I mean the same size that is produced when printing on 8.5 x 11. When printing two pages on one 11 x 17, the pages are compressed down so that there is this large margin around t...

Trouble Printing the Score

Went to print a score today and ended up with several blank pages. If I view the problem area in page view, I see about one or two pages of score squeezed together to the right of the beige area of the screen. The next page has one measure for the whole page. The following page looks normal. I've us...

Peter, Thanks for your help. I was able to duplicate this. How the whole rests got in there, let's just chalk this up to user error. Although I don't remember keying in whole rests, it's probably the result of me doing something wrong. Also, I did at one time 'clear all items', but just didn't then ...

I have checked the measure attributes and found nothing except for the 8th bar. It so happens that it has a double bar after it and it has the following measure attributes checked: Break a Multimeasure Rest, Break Smart Word Extensions, Include in Measure Numbering and Override Group Barlines. But t...

Thanks for your suggestions. RE: 1) I already had the same settings in the Preferences > Program Options > Edit) area. (I also have "Automatic music spacing" checked, in case this makes a difference.) The specific 8 bars were checked and have no hidden notes or staff styles ( I even highlighted and ...

Adjustments to parts

I've have my score looking the way I want but when I look at the linked parts there are some adjustments that I need to make. 1) On one part, one entire line is 8 individual measures of rest, even though I've asked to create multi-measure rests. 2) Some two-bar repeats are hanging off the right side...

Thanks, Peter. That does the trick. Would not have thought about 'transposition'.

Neutral key signature across all instruments

This question may have already been asked, but I couldn't find it. I'm working on a jazz big band chart and would like all instruments to look as if they were in the key of C, i.e., no key signature. I would put in accidentals when appropriate. I assume this can be done, but I can't figure out how. ...

I get the Page Offset dialog box

"Add to current page number" followed by an empty field.

I find if I fill with zero, the page numbers are correct.

Page Numbering Errors After Optimizing

I recently extracted a piano part from a score, then optimized it. After the optimization, the page numbers were incorrect. The part had bass and treble clef activity through the second system on the second page. For the rest of the piece, a single treble clef was sufficient. The second page is numb...

Thanks for the advice, Peter, works great! Although I question why the Finale programming team chose to only bracket the first and last measures of a first ending.

1st & 2nd Endings on Extracted Parts

I've finished my first score and everything looks fine. However, when extracting the parts, I'm having a problem with the 1st Ending. It's 3 measures long, with the first 2 measures on one staff and the last on the next staff down. The 1st ending bracket above the last measure starts far off to the ...
