Guitar Tab - frets in wrong range/octave

Hi all, I'm working on piece of some guitar tabs. I've ran into this issue before and I can't remember how to fix it. I have a segment of guitar tab in Finale (2015 for Windows) that is going to the wrong octave or fret (as evidenced by the circle area - note how the circle area shows the wrong fret...

Re: Finale 2015 startup error: Audio Engine failed to load

I got the error to go away by going to MIDI/Audio / Device Setup / Audio Setup - and then changing the Audio Driver to DirectSound. But then when I open the Finale file of a string quartet that I am working on, in that file, I have now lost all of my VST sounds. They're all missing and can't be foun...

Finale 2015 startup error: Audio Engine failed to load

Hi all, I'm getting the 'Audio Engine failed to load' error dialog when I start up Finale (2015). I've been getting this error for several weeks now, but I've been working on a project where I haven't needed the playback so I just ok'ed through it. But I'd like to see if I can fix it. I tried this f...

Re: Lyrics tool: Melisma lines question

Here's a screenshot. I'm working on chart of 'La Bamba' for a project hence the Spanish. I did add extra space to measure 11 and that worked - it did show the melisma line for that syllable. But I'm a bit concerned that it makes the spacing look off when compared to the measure directly below it. I ...

Should also note that I tried playing with the Word Extensions to see if I could physically drag it where I wanted but it didn't really work. I'm using Finale 2015 on Windows 10.

Lyrics tool: Melisma lines question

I have a question about melisma lines with the Lyrics tool. I have a a few instances in a chart of mine where the melisma starts on the last note of a line and carries over to the next measure of the next line of music. But sometimes Finale doesn't draw it right, where the __ line of the melisma doe...

Lyrics - moving individual hyphens

Hi all, In the Lyrics Tool is there a way to move the position of individual hyphens? My situation is that I have a hyphenated word at the end of a DS al Coda marking, where the hyphenated word completes back at the DS. And since there's a double bar right there and the Coda begins with a different ...

Re: changing fonts for guitar tablature

I couldn't figure out how to select it and edit. So I just deleted them and re-created the H and P from scratch with the Smart Line selection too. In Fin 2015 they're under that menu. Wrong version with this link but the concept is the same: http://usermanuals.finalemusic.com/Finale2014Win/Content/F...

changing fonts for guitar tablature

I forgot how to do this and I didn't write it down. How do you change fonts for guitar tablature in Finale? Specifically, I need to change the H and P fonts for hammer-ons and pull-offs from the special symbols in my tab.

I'm using Finale 2015 in Windows 10/ 64bit. Thanks again - ryan

Re: help with guitar capo chords

I just realized I had a error with the fret I corrected it. Is it still standard to use Roman numerals for the fret/position? Or should I be using regular Arabic numerals? Going back to my classical guitar days, I remember the books I had used Roman numerals for the fret/position

Re: help with guitar capo chords

2nd attempt: I entered notes for an E major chord and then with the Chord tool I entered an F chord symbol and fretboard. Then I used the Utilities/ Add-Remove Capo Chords to change it to an E chord - capo 1st fret - with the text. I used the roman numeral IV for fret/position. I think that's the ri...

help with guitar capo chords

I am trying to notate guitar chords with a capo, which despite being a long-time Finale user, is something I really haven't done before. I made this excerpt with the Utilities - Add/Remove Capo chords command. But I was wondering if this is right. Trying to show a B-flat chord that is an A chord cap...

I'll try it. I have about 3 pages of them to change so manually doing it is gonna take a little time. I wish it would have come in correctly from the import, but sometimes we can't be so lucky. :)

Re: changing chord suffix superscript to standard

actually I should have been a tad clearer. Not sure if I'm referring to the suffix. I actually need to lower the flat symbol to the standard font position. In the jazz font the flat sign in a B-flat chord symbol looks like a superscript. In the standard Maestro font, the flat symbol is the same leve...

12/8 Rests

Hello, I just imported an XML file of a different leadsheet into a default Finale template. It's in 12/8 time and I have the time signature set correction to be in dotted quarters. But I want the rests to be in dotted quarters also instead of quarter and eighth rests. Is there a way I can change thi...

Re: best way to convert fonts in existing file

Finale support told me to export the file with the jazz fonts as Music XML then import it into a new default template. That kinda worked and kinda didn't - there were still a few elements like expressions and repeats that stayed in the jazz font. I'd like to set up a good default template that has a...

Re: best way to convert fonts in existing file

Any way to turn off the chord suffix superscript? Apparently in the jazz template, chords have a superscript, but in the standard default template they do not. And it doesn't work just to copy it over from one template to the next.
