Re: Guitar TAB stems and noteheads
Well it does seem obvious to me that normal 8th and quarter note stems and all the others should have normal noteheads... If it doesn't seem obvious to you I'm certainly not going to quarrel with anyone over that one. Everyone has the right to his or her own opinion. No I have never seen noteheads o...

Re: Guitar TAB stems and noteheads
Thanks ! Just using the circle in the articulations I was able to add that easily. What are these circles with lines in them - some vertical some horizontal ? There were circles with vertical lines in your file... Is that something special to tabulations? Obviously I'd rather use real notehead shape...

Re: Finding and eliminating instrument changes
I have the same instrument (my choir Ahs) in each layer... I can't see the instrument (which seems to be a brass sound) which intervenes in bar 3 of the 4th track in my file.
I suppose there's no way to send you the file?
I have to go to work now, I'll be back later...

Guitar TAB stems and noteheads
Hello Is there any way to have the noteheads shown on the stems in guitar TABS ? The problem only arises really with half and whole notes which have the same stem as the quarter notes... There may be some technical reason for this difference? Acoustic guitars don't play long notes? I use TABS for my...

Finding and eliminating instrument changes
Hello I've just imported a midi file and on playback it's clear that there are instrument changes which override the instruments I've configured in the score manager. Is there some way to eliminate all such changes and start with a clean sheet - even better is there a view where I can see them? I've...

Re: Change Staff Color and whole notes?
OK. Thanks. I'd more or less come to that conclusion but at least now I can export a file which is 90% colored.
Thanks to all of you

Re: Change Staff Color and whole notes?
I've hidden the staff lines and that saves a lot of work. The result is quite artistic. Can I change the colors of the staff signs for the G and the F clef and the time signatures with the file still in Finale? I've put a tiny bit of the score I'm working on as an attached file. In this part of the ...

Re: Change Staff Color and whole notes?
Thanks for getting back to me. You're probably right, the "layers" answer may refer to putting different note values in parallel in the same bar - you have to use a different voice and the color of the voices is modifyable. My hope was that once imported into Phtoshop or whatever image editor you us...

Re: Change Staff Color and whole notes?
Hello. I know it was a long time ago and this thread is probably closed, but how did you "throw" the file into Photoshop? I pull in PDF output pages is there a better way. I don't seem to get layers by importing the pdf file into Photoshop
Thanks in advance

beaming
Thanks.
I found rebeaming this morning - available for the lyrics too - it respects the classical rules of individual non beamed notes except for syllables which run through two or more notes.

I found my instructions for breaking (and remaking) beams. (I need it all the time for vocal scores).
Now I can't remember if it's possible to select multiple notes for beam breaking!!!

Strangely enough I think I'm also on another Finale Forum in English... I noticed that I'm listed here as having joined in 2007 and on the other forum as having joined in 2004 when I started to migrate from Musicator to Finale... One thing I used to be able to do but I've forgotten how : eliminate b...

Thanks again - found it.
Effectivement je ne savais pas qu'il y avait un site Finale en français mais étant anglais le site en anglais me convenait bien. Je vais m'inscrire et en parler à mes amis/élèves qui utilisent Finale.
Bien à vous

Changing note velocities
Hello Is it possible to change - above all to equalize - the note velocities for a whole clef? For a whole score? I'm now using Finale full time but in another sequencer I was able to select all the notes for one instrument or even for the whole score, and impose the same velocity - usually between ...

Thanks for getting back to me. A bit disappointed... I'd been told that there was a virtual keyboard in the latest version. I use a midi keyboard myself - it's by far the best method. I'll probably end up buying a keyboard for my old friend. You're in Belgium? I live in the north of France quite nea...

Hello again
Is there a virtual keyboard available in Finale? If so as from which version?
I'm helping a rather old parish priest to convert to Finale and he is used to clicking on the notes on a virtual keyboard on screen...
Any help gratefully accepted

That fits the bill fine (once I'd found the equivalent options in my french version of Finale...) Thanks again Keith PS even came across Alt/0160 in the Finale Help yesterday by pure accident. Great! works a treat! never thought of using the ASCII equivalent. Many thanks. As a supplementary, would you know if it's possible to put as many notes as you want into a bar? Gregorian chant doesn't respect fixed time signatures... My system of putting in a new time signature of 12/4 or 10/4 and h...

several words under one note
Hello, I'm typing a canticle into Finale and I can't seem to put more than one word or syllable under one note - it won't let me put spaces in the part of the phrase which goes under the one note. It's a sort of gregorian chant and there aren't always the same number of words attached to the note in...
