You may want to take a look at actually purchasing something. MakeMusic sells a program called PrintMusic that would give you greater control of the midi set-up.

If you go into NotePad's Midi Set-up window, what device is listed in the Midi In drop down?

If there are no devices than you need to uninstall and reinstall the midi driver for the interface.

If you have the midi file from cubase just launch Finale and go up to your File Menu >> Open and then select your midi file.

You may have to change the file type to midi.

There are two ways to do this: Click on your Staff Tool and then double-click into the measure to bring up the Measure Attributes Window. Within the Attributes Window, inside the Items to Display Box, uncheck Time Signatures. You will have to do this for each instrument. This is the Global way to ch...

I am not sure if the B4 is supported in Finale.

If you choose Kontakt from the NI Set-up window is the B4 loaded in the Kontakt Player 2?

Does the B4 run stand-alone in KP2 or does it need an update?

yiakzan- This sounds like you are using a version of Finale that is not supported on Vista. Try this: Click on your Staff Tool and then highlight the group handle (the little white box next to the group name). Go up to your Staff Menu and choose Remove Group. This should take care of the blue triang...

This is a limitation of the PrintMusic program - you do not have control over the percussion map.

Two things to try:

1: Clear the document of all of the measure/note expressions.

2: Export and then import the document using MusicXML. You may lose some formatting, but ti may restore functionality to the document.

Finale is a music notation program with playback as a feature. It is not a pro-audio program and does not function well in this regard.

It is possible as the thread from Northern Sounds shows, but it requires a little more effort.
