Use the Special Tools, the one which concerns the ties, and use the handles to manually expand the ties.

Re: Part Names

Are using the "dynamic" text block (Text tool, menu -> Inserts -> Part/Score Name) ?
Place it on the score, it will display as "Score" (or whatever is written in the File Info window).
In the parts, this text block displays the instrument name.

Re: Add an instrument for only 15 bars

Create all the staves you need right from the start. Then in the Staff menu (Staff tool), in Page view, hide the trumpet in selected systems with the "Hide Empty Staves" command.

You are right. Swapping 1-2, 1-3, 2-3 is always 1 click. The script and the plug-in function the same way.

Re: Swap Staves

Top and bottom staves is a clever way to get around the non-contiguous problem. Unless I miss something, it looks like the JW Lua script has the same limitations as the JW Staff polyphony plugin (top & bottom staves are not contiguous if there are more than 2 staves). But anyway, we have several so...

Re: Swap Staves

JW Staff Polyphony, definitely. If the 2 staves are contiguous, 1 click. As far as I know, Finale cannot select 2 staves that are not contiguous. In this case, the plug-in swaps the top and the bottom staff of the selection. Things get a bit more complicated, and in this case you could use a tempora...

Enter 0 in both boxes and apply. (I realize you just figured it out)

But your file is strange. If I modify something, the "Revert to saved" command remains greyed out. Not normal.

Re: Transferring Expression Library from one Doc to another Doc

I'm not sure if the following remark will be relevant, but here it is :
A new category should have at least one modified parameter (font, positioning, ... via Edit Category). If it is not the case, the category will not be transferrable to another document.

Re: Shape Designer: how to enter special font glyphs and change angle

Use the Smart Line Designer to create an invisible line with contains the font symbol : Go to the Smart Shape Tool, hold Alt (Mac) or Ctrl (PC) and click on the asterisk icon. Create a new line. Enter zero for its thickness. Type your symbol (and select Center Full Edit). To use your line, double cl...

Re: meassure numbers have dissapeared- help - please

The oldest version I have is 2009 (I have modified the file in the 2009 format, but you couldn't open it). I had to do a few corrections ; 1) as explained, the number 1 as first measure. The numbers appeared right away. 2) In "Enclosure"; I changed it to none 3) I reduced the font size 4) I fine-tun...

Edit Measure Regions (Measure tool, menu). Apparently, the first measure of the region was incorrect, too big. Change it to 1.

Re: Type in Poly Chord

The oblique line (slash) is usually understood as a chord over a bass note.
Polychords generally use an horizontal line between 2 chords (like N. Grossingink suggests), like these examples :
A
C7
(actually C7 b9 13)

Do7
Co7

This should work :

Select a hairpin in the palette.
Double click on the score (where the shape should start), hold the mouse button down and drag horizontally.
Release the mouse where the shape should end.

Re: HP and fermatas

Hairpins are one of them. Now, about fermatas, if you turn off HP and you still want to hear them, you can enter an invisible tempo alteration (placed anywhere in the measure) that will slow down the tempo and produce a very similar effect. A second tempo alteration or mark can bring the original te...

You don't specify if you are using the Text Tool or the Expression Tool. Put all the new t...
