I don't know what happened....but all of a sudden it let me save it at the correct sized PDF!
I don't print this size normally so hopefully that's it, haha. Thanks for all the suggestions though.

Re: How to save as oversized PDF
Unfortunately when I add a printer, I don't get all those fancy options to set.

Re: How to save as oversized PDF
Many people have complained about printing or exporting to PDF from Finale. It appears the best way is to print to a virtual PDF printer such as Cute PDF or PDF Creator, which I have used for a long time without any problems, printing to any page size. Make sure that at the first Print Dialog you h...

How to save as oversized PDF
I have done this before and it worked fine. For some reason, I cannot save my 11x14 score as a pdf. Argh. I keep getting a "invalid paper size" error. I have tried saving as a graphic but that looks terrible. What am I missing?
Thanks,
T.

Re: My system won't move up
When I checked the 'general' system margins...they looked fine. But when I checked the SPECIFIC system that was the problem...I made the margin much smaller and now it seems to be ok. So I apologize to the person who told me to check the system margins. Obviously I didn't check the correct margin. T...

Re: My system won't move up
Still running into the problem. Margins are all fine and it is only on a couple of pages. Oh well. I will HAVE to figure out a workaround.

Re: My system won't move up
Yes...no luck. But thanks. I have now hidden all empty staves and will begin at the beginning of the score again, now with several systems per page. Hopefully I won't run into this problem again.

Re: My system won't move up
I actually cleared all items. So there's nothing but measures and instrumentation. If I make the page size smaller, that may fix the problem...or create new ones. I'm trying to use exactly what I have on my computer to show the problem. I guess that's not possible. Well, hopefully when I hide staves...

Re: My system won't move up
Ok, deleted the notes. Here's the whole thing. Page 40 and 71 seem to have the dragging up problem. I only really looked at the first half of the piece so later you'll see the systems at various levels as I hadn't tried to adjust them yet. I now realize (it has been a while since I created an full o...

Re: My system won't move up
How do I just take a few pages out of my finale document and save as finale document? I'd rather not post the entire piece here.
Thanks,

Re: My system won't move up
I was able to 'fix' it (not really) by dragging all of the other ones down to where the problem one was. But I'd really rather actually fix it. Now the other 3 movements will have to be dragged down as well. I'm attaching a screenshot. The page on the right is the one with the problem. It won't drag...

My system won't move up
I am working on a full orchestra score and most pages are fine when I try to 'even' up all the tops of the systems. But...occasionally there is a page where it refuses to be dragged up (staff-drag). I have unlocked systems, moved things via page layout....just trying to figure it out. Nothing. Argh....

Re: Cadenza writing
Why can't you just make one very long measure? In this example it's one measure of 300 16th (time signature hidden), I then quickly entered any amount of notes (randomly, excuse the content, not meant to be music ...). If it's longer then your page width, you can break it up with the Split Measures...

Re: Cadenza writing
So basically still jumping through hoops. Seems like such a simple idea...freeform writing! Can't believe they haven't added this to Finale in all these years.

Cadenza writing
We would like to write JUST a cadenza for a solo instrument. We've done this before within a piece (this time there will be no 'piece', just the cadenza alone) and had to count it out and create time signatures for each measure, then hide the time signatures and barlines, etc. Seems to me Finale sho...

2014.5 not authorizing
I just got a new iMac (with Mojave) and I'm trying to authorize Finale and it just keeps crashing. I went online to my account and de-authorized my old mac. This version was working fine on my old Mac (also with Mojave) so I'm not sure what's going on. I really need to use it....help!

Re: Adding cues to extracted part
I've gone back to the score (saved a new score just for cues!) and I'm using the Cue plugin to add cues to the entire thing. Once I have parts afterwards, I'll adjust what I need. Thanks

Re: Adding cues to extracted part
Well I'm only on the 1st part out of 4 so I guess I could go back to the score and do it there first and then re-extract the parts...and of course, delete all the cues from the score afterwards because they shouldn't be in there. Why hasn't Finale come up with a better way of adding cues? Does anyon...

Adding cues to extracted part
I've extracted a part (because otherwise sizes will change in the score, etc...) and I need to add cues during a section where the instrument is playing. It's easy to add to rests and change the notesize. But for some reason if I select a different layer and try to "paste" in notes from a part, it j...

Double stop harmonics?
Anyone know how I should notate this? They are fifths (on viola) both with the diamond harmonic a 1/4 above but the top note will be on top of the diamond if they notes are on top of each other like a regular doublestop. I've attached a picture of what I have (sort of next to each other).
Thanks,
