Re: How to create diamonds

I used the polygon tool in the Expression Shape Designer. Once the diamond is created, duplicate it if it needs to be resized or stretched.

Re: Aligning notes in separate layers

I leave AMS on as long as I am doing initial entry, in Scroll view. After I go to page view for layout, I turn it off.

I guess everybody has a method that works for them.

Zuill,
Customizing the HP still leaves the dropped notes problem.

Re: Hairpins

It’s not a bug on Macs. I guarantee.

Try restarting your computer. If that doesn’t fix it, trash the prefs.

Re: stem direction on guitar tab

Nightflight,

I don't know guitar TAB very well. This is what I get. Is it what you see, as well?If so, what would you want to change?

(Peter, since he is new to the forum, he may not be able to post graphics, yet.)

Re: HP and fermatas

Thanks for that, michelp. Since these are for learning tracks, the cresc. and decresc. are less important. So the tempo alteration might be all I need.

HP and fermatas

I’m still dealing with the dropped notes issue I posted about, earlier. One suggestion was to turn HP off. I know that if I do this, fermatas are ignored. Are there other things that HP recognizes, that turning it off will impact?

Remove it, and restart Finale. A new prefs file will be created.

Re: Dropped notes

Zuill, many, many thanks. I'm not sure if it was changing to Piano 1, or no HP (I think I forgot to turn it off for one song) but they are rendering properly.

Much appreciated!

Re: Dropped notes

Thanks, Zuill. I have to sing choir this morning, but it’s definitely on the afternoon schedule!

I’m thinking that the rhythmic feel is less important than the correct notes.

Dropped notes

I spent yesterday tearing my hair out. Please examine the attached file. I've used the mixer to isolate the soprano line. It plays back fine. However, when I export it as MP3, the eighth note D on beat two of measure 7 does not sound. I have shortened the duration of the preceding note in the MIDI t...

Re: Faster way than the MIDI tool?

I like Harald's suggestion. I'll try it out.

Zuill, I've spent so much time on this, I can't remember which spots in which pieces are the issue. But when I hear back from one of the section leaders, I will post a doc.

Thanks, all!

I'm using piano. Both the cause and the fix were suggested by text support, and it works. It just takes time.

That’s exactly what I would have told you to do. You might want to verify that the Category is set up to apply to all staves.

Faster way than the MIDI tool?

When generating learning tracks, I often have people saying that short, repeated notes of the same pitch often don't play as separate notes. I understand this can be caused by the MIDI OFF and MIDI ON signals stepping on each others toes, so to speak. I go into the MIDI tool, look for trouble spots,...

Re: Next Mac OS and Finale?

I've had exactly the same issue. Just an hour ago, in fact. I work in scroll view, and sometimes, when I scroll forward to a particular measure and double-click on a note, it jumps back to m. 1. Interestingly enough, once it's done that, it won't do it any more in that particular document. But it wi...

In the same piece, or in a different one? If the latter, you can set up everything as you want it, and save it as a template, or in your document styles, or both.

Re: Next Mac OS and Finale?

And I’m quite happy on High Sierra. I’ve always been an early adopter, but I got bit when I went to Mojave and my SmartScore didn’t work. I had to downgrade, which was a PITA. So I’ll be more cautious, now.
