If it’s a lead sheet, he probably doesn’t have measure stacks.

Re: Trouble with easy harmonic analysis

Could you use the figured bass font? (Keep in mind that I know nothing about harmonic analysis or figured bass.)

Looking at the manual page it looks like a lot of what you need is there.

Re: How to create an additional staff to part in score

You have to add the second staff through the whole piece, hiding it where you don’t want it.

All you are doing is posting a screen shot. We need to see the actual .musx file.

Set your time signature as a composite: 4+4+4+4+4+4+4 over 8, set to display as 7/4.

There are a few ways. The easiest is the Setup Wizard.

Re: desending bass line

You might try setting them up with parentheses. Obviously, there is a difference between Bb5, and B(b5). The computer doesn’t know the difference, unless you tell it!

I can only comment on #3: Yes. You can select a note or group of notes and move them up or down with numpad keys 6-9.

Assuming GPO 5 is compatible with F26, try reinstalling it. That would be my first guess.

In that case, send Jari a few bucks! He makes all of these wonderful plug-ins available for free, but accepts donations.

Re: Expanding the Finale Templates

I dunno. There are so many possible combinations and permutations for each user that I don’t see how anyone could create such a warehouse. At its very simplest, I don’t need a 10-staff jazz template. Do you need a template for a mixed voice double barbershop quartet? Didn’t think so. It’s not a bad ...

Re: Can we copy & paste a measure of rests?

It gets a one-line mention in the user manual under Simple Entry. Which is a shame, because I think it’s one of the most powerful tools in the box. The way that I use it is to select the last note in the section BEFORE you want to use it. Select the repitch tool, and tap Return or Enter. One or the ...

Re: Expanding the Finale Templates

If we go back to the original question "could Finale expand the selection of templates?" the answer is, most likely, no. I don't think they have a stock of templates hidden away in some secret warehouse, somewhere. (Cue "Raiders of the Lost Ark" music...) If you can set up a score, you can have as m...

Re: Expanding the Finale Templates

Open the template, go to Score Manager, add the instruments you want, where you want them. Go to the Staff menu, Groups and Brackets, and reset the groups.

Save it as a new template.

Done.

Re: Scanning Program for Mac

SmartScore Pro. I have used it for hundreds of pieces, from one to a dozen (or more) staves. However, it won’t work for Mac Mojave or Catalina. The new 64-bit version is expected within the next few months. So, my suggestion would be to wait a bit before buying.

I would do it with notes instead of rests, and use the repitch tool to enter the pitch I wanted.

That delay has been fixed over the last ten years. It’s not a problem anymore, AFAICT.
