Re: Adding number font to Tempo Alterations expressions
When creating a tempo alteration, you can choose to uncheck the option to use the category fonts, thus allowing you to use whatever font you want. Zuill Thanks. I'll do that. But is there no way to add that third font in there? It seems odd to me, because in my own files, it's already set up with t...

Adding number font to Tempo Alterations expressions
For some weird reason, this piece I am editing does not have the option of a separate number font in Tempo Alterations expressions, though it is there in Tempo Marks. How do I add it in the Category Designer window for Tempo Alterations?
Thanks,
Mark

Selective part names in score
I'm editing a multi-movement piece by another composer who has copied it as all one document--in other words, the seven movements are not separated into their own files. This is great, except for three things having to do with part names in the score: 1. I want the part names to appear at the beginn...

Re: Grace notes in wrong clef and wrong octave
I'm not sure what you did, Mark, but I would substitute an eighth rest for the initial quarter rest, put in the three small notes as a 16th-note triplet in regular size, reduce the triplet to the desired size, make the initial eighth rest invisible, change to layer two and insert a quarter rest on ...

Re: First half of ties across barlines have disappeared
In my copy of Finale, they only disappear when I run over the barline in Speedy entry, and they reappear when exiting Speedy. When I print to PDF, they're there. Perhaps just live with it, since it appears to be only a display anomaly? You're absolutely right! They print out just fine. Yay, and tha...

Re: First half of ties across barlines have disappeared
Oh, got it! Alas, that doesn't work in this case. I guess I will opt for not having the ties break for the time signature.

Re: First half of ties across barlines have disappeared
Can't find the cause. Redrawing brings them back. As you mentioned, it only affects the ones being broken by the TS. I can't reproduce this in a fresh document. Sometimes things like this happen with documents created in earlier versions. This looks like this document started in Finale 2011. Zuill ...

First half of ties across barlines have disappeared
In the attached file, between measures 52-53 and 53-54, the first half of ties in the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th staves is missing. How do I get them to show? They are in places where there are meter changes, in case that means something.

Mark

Grace notes in wrong clef and wrong octave
Someone asked this same question on July 15, 2017, but the files meant to illustrate the solution are no longer attached to the response. The question is: I have three grace notes for cello at the very bottom of their range, and they lead to a note that is in the treble clef--too high to use either ...

Re: Text Block Bug?
I've heard of Text Block issues, but not something I have seen, at least in my best memory. I use Text Inserts as Peter describes. There is an issue with those if you try to edit them other than with the File Info window. Motet shared that info with us some time back. You can also select the handle...

Re: Text Block Bug?
… Has anyone else had this problem, and does anyone know a solution? It's really, really irritating … What always works for me (= no need for about 10 tries): 1) Drag-select around the text block handle, to select the handle. 2) Text menu > Edit Text… This step leads to the window Edit Text where t...

Re: Text Block Bug?
Ah--on Windows the box is a broken line. Sounds like what's maybe happening is when you double click, Finale somehow misses that you've clicked on the handle and is starting a new box. Actually, when I double click on it, it opens the editing window just fine, but when I click within that box, eith...

Re: Text Block Bug?
I sometimes have trouble creating a new text block, so the tool does seem a bit flakey, When I open your file, I don't get a box around the title as shown in your picture. How are you editing the text? You can either double-click on the handle, or right click and pick Edit Text. In either case, I g...

Text Block Bug?
This has been happening for months, and it seems to happen only when I am trying to edit the title of a piece: I click on the handle of the text block so that I can edit the title, but when I click within the box, the box around the text disappears and I have to try again. OR sometimes, I click with...

Re: Unable to place accents where I want them
I already heard back from MM on this. They have been aware of the issue from the testing stage of v26, and are working to find a solution. Let's see. Zuill Thank you, Zuill! When I come across problems, I just assume it's because I don't know what I am doing, so I am reassured that, at least in thi...

Re: Unable to place accents where I want them
Thank you, all, for your comments. Yes, Zuill is right: if I put the slur interaction thing on "ignore", I'm able to move the accents to where I want them. Alas, that means having to move every single one of them by hand, but that's better than having them stuck far above the noteheads.

Unable to place accents where I want them
In the attached excerpt, measures 6-11, flute and clarinet, the accents are ridiculously way above the notes. I try to drag them to be right above the notes, but they either won't move or flip to below the staff. Why am I unable to place them where I want them to be: close to the notehead but just o...

Re: Weird spacing between beats
You can explore the setting in Document Options/Spacing regarding the minimum distance between notes with ties. I tried .05 inches and the look was better. However, that is a global setting, so you would need to look over the whole score to see if making that number smaller works everywhere. Zuill ...

Re: Weird spacing between beats
Aha! It's the tie between beats 9 & 10 in the bottom staff (cello 2). I'm now finding the same phenomenon all over the place. Why should that tie add space between those beats? It looks terrible to me. I really want to have the eighth notes spaced evenly across the measure; is there any way to do th...

Weird spacing between beats
Can anyone see why there is a gap in m. 24 between beats 9 and 10? There are no accidentals in any line on b. 10, or anything else that I can see that would cause this. I figured it must be some bug in the measure, so I deleted the entire measure and recopied it, and the very same thing happened. I'...
