Lost in space
In the attached file, I believe that I had three lines (violin1 &2, viola) that I may have hidden. I pressed Command-K and it shows they are there (?) but I forget how to reveal them in the score. What do I need to do to reveal them? Thanks.

rit. placement questions
My question is about the placement of "rit" on the keyboard part. On the attached file, I want the singers to begin the rit at "break of day". But the harpsichord does not play at that moment, but shortly after. Should I place the harpsichord "rit" over the G#, or as I have done it? Same with the "a...

Re: enharmonic
I realize that, and sometimes that 9-flip becomes a bit of a pain when it's a long passage of, say, B-B#-B-B# etc. But thanks. If you're unsure about all this, leaving it at "default spelling" or "use spelling tables" is the way to go. You can do the occasional flip with the \ key in Simple entry or...

Re: enharmonic
Thank you. Set your enharmonic spelling to "Default Spelling" or "Favor Flats". On a Mac, this setting is located in the "Finale" menu - it's titled: "Enharmonic Spelling". Mouse to the right and choose "Default Spelling". In the file you posted, it defaulted to C natural using both the "Default Spe...

On the attached file, I enter (Speedy) D, B, C, A, etc. I'm wondering,
what can I change to make it spell D, B, C(natural) etc, rather than
D, B, B# etc. (I know that I can correct it after the fact.) Thanks.

Re: volume
A bit above my pay grade but I appreciate that you responded. Another option is to assign the instrument to its own bank (in Score Manager) and raise the volume of the instrument in "VST Banks & Effects," which lets you increase the volume to 200. If the Bank is below 100, you can simply drag the sl...

I must've fallen asleep at the wheel, I don't know what happened. Sorry.

On the attached, is there a way to increase the playback volume of the piccolo?
It's completely overpowered by the harpsichord. Thanks.

Re: staff disappeared
I copied as you suggested and I see it in Page View, but I don't see the remainder of the flute part beyond that, even when I try to enter notes. musicus, 1) In Scroll View you can see that the Flute measures are empty from meas. 46 and onwards. 2) From meas. 46 to meas. 49 (= in System 10) the Flut...

Re: staff disappeared
Not sure I understand. Do you mean the topmost handle on meas.41 just left of the treble clef? You probably used "Hide Empty Staves". You can make it reappear : Staff tool : select the top handle, Staff menu -> Show Empty Staves. Don't apply Hide Empty Staves before all the active staves have been c...

On the attached file, at meas. 46, there should be a continuation of the flute part. But it seems to have disappeared. I tried to write the flute line from m.44 (F-C-F-E) but it won't let me continue through m.46 and beyond. Can you tell me what has happened? Thanks. (The same seems to have occured ...

Re: pizz
Thanks. Absolutely. Make sure you select the Aria player (or Noteperformer or any other playback engine) in ScoreManager, then in the player, select the cello (I used the cello-KS section from GPO5 but it will work with the included Garritan sounds in the ARIA player just the same). Make sure Human ...

Just as a test, I have used classical guitar as the sound in the attached. Is there any way
to get these measures to sound as cello pizzicato? I don't see pizz in the instrument list.

motet wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2023 3:01 amIf you invoke the Page Layout tool, you'll see that system 2 has a giant top margin, which runs up against the bottom margin of system 1. There's a handle there to decrease the top margin. You probably want to do your manual system spacing in that tool anyway, as it has more features.

Am having some trouble with spacing between systems in the attached file.
Spacing on page 2 looks reasonable. But when I try to drag system 2 on page 1 upward,
it won't go. (using staff tool) See attached, thanks.

In the attached I wrote meas. 1-4, then I connected the stems
individually to make meas. 5-8. Is there a way to set things up so
that those groupings (meas.5-8) are formed automatically?

Re: enharm
That's very thoughtful, very sensible. I have applied that thinking before, but the brain pokes in and says "that's not correct." I will think about your suggestion. Have a great day! It's hard to judge without more music to provide context, but I would leave the G natural as is for ease of reading.

A. didn't work at all. B. worked, using the shift+. Thanks. A. I do not know what you did, but these steps seem to work: Selection Tool. Double-click the G♮. Finale switches to the Simple Entry Tool, with the G♮ selected. *) Hit the Down-Arrow key, to move the note down. Now you have F♮ (and the not...
