Re: Finale on iPad Pro 3rd Generation
Consider using Sidecar: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210380 If you also have a supported Mac computer, you can use your iPad as a second screen. Won't be good for "Finale-on-the-go," but it could be useful or interesting. Haven't tried it myself, though, because my computer doesn't support the ...

Re: Rest with Slash notation
Use a staff style for the slashes.
Select the Staff Tool and highlight only the rests you'd like slashes for. Then either press "S" which is the keyboard shortcut for slashes, or go to Staff > Apply Staff Style To > Score and Parts… > Slash Notation.
Hope this helps

Not that I know of.
Why would you like to add the number-prefix? Perhaps something else is possible that will still solve your problem.

Re: Custom beat duration ( 3/♪. )
With two-digit numerators or a dotted or flagged denominator, the horizontal offset will be a bit different, so a category positioning which covers everything may be a little optimistic. I think it depends on whether you want it to be left-aligned or center-aligned. Both are valid, I think it's jus...

Re: Custom beat duration ( 3/♪. )
But the extra space is given already, as the true time signature is moved off page, if I understand correctly? I imagine a plug-in could do that: move the TS off page and inserting shape expressions, either looking like normal TSs or the Carl-Orff-style TS. Probably, a new expression category would...

Re: Might be a challenge...
I've done this before a long time ago, so I'm not 100% sure how to do it. I think it required setting up the staves to playback in 2 separate channels. This can be done through Score Manager. That might not be how I did it, but it's worth a try. Now, I use Noteperformer on every project, which is a ...

Hiding Flags on Specific Notes
Hi everyone,
I want to be able to hide flags on specific eighth notes. I'm doing some graphical notation, and so some of the eighth notes still need flags. Others do not.
Any ideas on how to do this?
Thanks

That's exactly what I do.Bill Stevens wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 7:39 pmThanks, Nick.
Of course, once you go to, for instance, "Repitch" then everything in Simple is available.
Thanks again.

Re: Creating Short Cut on a Mac
Just include the name of the lowest level. For instance, with the Simple Entry tool, you can use "Repitch". That will allow you to select the repitch function with the keyboard shortcut.
You can't make "Simple Entry" into a keyboard shortcut itself because you can't even select it manually.

Re: Sixteenth note runs
I've never written a cadenza, but isn't there a JW plug-in that combines many bars into one and thus saves you from having to count up quarter notes in such a bar? There is a JW Plugin: JW Meter and Rhythm, v1.14 Here's a video from Jari showing how you can create cadenzas with it: https://youtu.be...

Re: Opportunity
Couple things: 1. You can unothorize copies of Finale from your Makemusic account. That way, you can still have two copies of Finale you can use. 2. macOS is Unix based. And all flavors of Linux are also based on Unix. If you don't want Unix, Windows computers are your only option. Maybe you just me...

Here's a good blog post that may help:

Though without more detail it will be difficult to give you precise pointers.

Re: whole note in 7/8 bar
I'd personally stay away from writing a whole note in 7/8 measures. As someone who sight-reads a lot, I rarely look at the time signature. I usually defer to the note values because the time signature is redundant at that point. Especially if the time signature changes often, the extra information b...

Re: note sizes in large orchestral scores
It's not uncommon practice for notes and line thicknesses to be larger for large scores. You'll also notice this in clefs, expressive/technique text, accidentals, as well as most other musical elements. This actually comes from one principle from typography. Smaller type requires thicker letters to ...

Re: Noteperformer and Finale 26
Now that I've explored NP more seriously, I have a specific question. Although it works very nicely in general, it interprets a series of 8th or 16th notes (or any moving melody line actually) in a very staccato fashion, which is not very pleasant. I can fix this with adding slurs or other, more sp...

Re: Noteperformer and Finale 26
I've not had any problems with the 1-second delay. You get used to it after even just an hour of use. Since notes playback as soon as you enter then, it really doesn't disrupt your workflow. If you're concerned, Noteperformer does have a free trial. Try it out for an hour or two and see if the delay...

I use Noteperformer 3 and Finale 26. There is no delay when inputting notes (e.g., using simple entry), but when playing back there's still a 1-second delay.

Ok, this took me way too long to get around to posting, but here's the answer to several of your questions: I would say having quarter tone flats & sharps with the accidentals would be a big time saver for me, especially if they changed the frequency playback as well (but I suspect that’s not possib...

Re: Swap Staves
Top and bottom staves is a clever way to get around the non-contiguous problem. Unless I miss something, it looks like the JW Lua script has the same limitations as the JW Staff polyphony plugin (top & bottom staves are not contiguous if there are more than 2 staves). But anyway, we have several so...
