Re: natural sign above staff
Where I disagree is in calling it editorial. It’s not. If truly editorial than you put it on the staff as an editor or arranger would. Mike Halloran, I was using the term "editorial" to refer to something added by an editor/transcriber that is not in the original source. This is how the term is usu...

Re: natural sign above staff
Yes. Everyone here is essentially correct. It is an editorial accidental, that would have been included in a performance of this earlier music as a matter of course, based on the performance practice and theoretical teachings of the time. These types of editorial accidentals in modern editions are f...

Re: Figured Bass Analysis
Indeed they are (the chords). Yet there is also a school of thought that labels the tonic chord in second inversion as a dominant when it occupies its frequent role as the antepenultimate chord of a V-I cadence. This could be the reason that these specific chords are labeled as they are by the OP. S...

Re: Rehearsal letter too small on ossia staff
Might this help in your situation? As I understand its use, you can use it for a single instance. It is even availble when you right-click on an expression. Scale Expression with Attached Note. With this box checked, Finale resizes the expression to match the reduction of its corresponding note in t...

Re: display of "recent files" faulty
My Finale still shows a long list of recent files; I'm sorry this feature isn't working for you. Can you set them in the program itself? Perhaps one can find the right line in the FINALE.INI file to change. As an alternative, I found that it is very helpful to display lists of recently accessed file...

Does the baseline shift feature within the text tool help at all? If it is a single value that needs entering, a FinaleScript or hotkey asignment might do the job?

Re: Lyrics editing - annoying problem
That's interesting. Maybe it's a Windows thing, but my cursor in the lyrics window frequently gets shot to the top ! Sometimes I try to thwart this by clicking on a syllable to select it, but it's still unpredictable. :(. And, no, no way to avoid it. There have been complaints about this since the l...

Re: Display staff name mid-system-w/avoid margin collision o
Thank you, N Grossingink, I did as you suggested, but unless I misunderstood something, setting up a Staff Style to show a staff name only works if the measure is at the very start (the left margin) of the system. I was curious in my original post whether it could be displayed within a regular syste...

Zuill, Thanks. Yes. I see that you mentioned the backwards compatibility feature I was talking about in another post in this thread. I couldn't imagine you would unfamiliar with it. When they first announced 26 it seemed that the articulation placement idiosyncrasies connected with saving was going ...

Re: Displaying a staff name mid-system--w/Margin Collision O
Hi motet and Mike, Thanks for the feedback. I don't usually use side-by-side or Coda systems, since I am frequently messing with system heights and then invoking "Space Systems Evenly" to lay them out nicely on the page. When you do SSE with side-by-sides it doesn't keep the side-by-side systems in ...

Display staff name mid-system-w/avoid margin collision on
Is there any way to do this without having to uncheck "Avoid [System] Margin Collision"?
I am tring to reproduce something like the attached image, where the staff names are T and D.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

Re: New Medieval plug-in
I am very interested in this plug-in, but as I recall, when I looked into its documentation, the plugin required you to enter the music in ways which would not allow you to play it back in the same way you would if you had transcribed the piece of medieval music into modern notation. Is this (still)...

Re: Should I upgrade to 26?
They have a way to Export to 2012 format. Why not to v25 format? Zuill Zuill, If I understand your response above correctly, I just opened and saved a file in v26 and then opened v25 and opened the same file with no problem, no export/import function necessary. I probably can't do this any farther ...

Re: Finale 26-Where are the new libraries and templates?
Sorry, but I can't help in this regard. My query did not have anything to do with GIFF. I actually don't use the Garritan features, nor install them. If you are curious where the files may be, you might check the manual under "Finale Installation Details" to see if that tells you at least where they...

Finale 26-Where are the new libraries and templates?
Hi, All, I just installed Fin26 after a download from 3 days ago (I will update my profile). I asked to keep my previous version (25) when installing. All seems well overall, and I have done my typical round of personal customizing that happens whenever I upgrade (menu shortcuts, folders, etc.). How...

Re: Lyrics. Problem with hyphens.
If I recall correctly, if the width between the syllables in the measure is too small, then Finale will not display the hyphens, even if you have included them. So, if you want to reproduce your example exactly, you may want to experiment with the width of your measure to see if you can make it smal...

Yes. This is rather obnoxious if you haven't done anything to the file. I often check to make sure I haven't inadvertently done anything through looking at "Undo/Redo Lists" in the Edit Menu, but that's a bother.

Just in case the bar you are changing is part of a group, make sure to choose "overide group barlines" that appears just below the choices for the different barline type in the measure attributes dialogue box.

Re: Dashed barlines problem/bug
I do everything in EVPUs, which I prefer to units which require many numbers behind the decimal point. Here they are, from thin to thick: Staff lines: 2.5 Stems: 3 Ledger lines: 3.5 Barlines: 4 Personally I prefer my ledger lines to be slightly thicker than the stems, but one could consolidate thes...
