Re: NotePerformer3 now available
And, as I expected, it's an amazing update! As usual, the new features have been intelligently implemented. A few of them: - extensive support for working with videos - large time signatures - continuous fine control over tempo and continuous MIDI controllers - intelligent divisi (and ossias) - slas...

elision character kerning
In setting Italian or Spanish lyrics, I need to use the elision symbol to connect two syllables connected by vowels. The Finale Lyrics font has this, but it should actually place slightly under each of the two syllables, leaving a minor gap between them: Desired elisions.png As it is now, it pushes ...

And do you really mean extracting parts instead of using linked parts? I would recommend using the latter except in very rare circumstances.

Oh, Mozart had plenty of distractions. His consisted of billiards, wigs, flirting and farting.

In Speedy, enter the first note as a quarter (Alt-3, 5) then press the back arrow and change the note to a half (6).

Re: moving notes up and down the staff
As a keyboard player, I'm a MIDI keyboard inputter, and if the OP can enter notes this way, the repitch function + a keyboard will always be the fastest way to do what he wants.

You can also use Simple Entry's Repitch function. Just set the cursor on the first note you want to change and play the notes you want.

Re: Printing not black, more like 70% grayscale
To solve this problem I used to run the PDFs through Apple's Color Sync, first running the B&W filter and then creating a generic PDF-X file. Nowadays I have a macro for calling up the export graphics window and making sure it's set for saving as PDF. I make almost all my PDFs this way, which has th...

chord suffix
I have a quick question. In minor chords with alterations, the 'm' seems slightly too close, but if the chord has no alteration, the 'm' seems too far away. How do I add space in the former situation and remove it in the latter?

Re: getting final layout right
I use this quite often. If you select the Measure Tool, all measures which have been spaced and which have entries will have two handles on their right barlines. The top one can be used to drag the barline (although I would avoid doing this) and the bottom one will bring up a palette with two rows o...

Re: getting final layout right
I took my time writing that and while I was doing it, both BuonTempi and Peter Thomsen posted. Hopefully all this advice will help. i'm only guessing, but if you have extremely long measures, splitting them can help make the layout better. If you'd like a portion of a measure to move to the next sys...

Re: getting final layout right
I can imagine you'd rather not place your composition online but it would certainly be easier for us to help you if we could actually see what it is you're trying to do and to see if our versions of Finale (or our settings) behave differently. I rarely have problems with Finale failing to create ext...

Re: 4K resolution issues
Thanks for setting me straight on that. I know that MM is working hard to replace old code and take modern hardware and operating systems into account but I'm relieved to read about the compatibility with high resolution displays. Perhaps those with problems haven't updated to the newest version.

Re: Muting top staff causes tempo marking to be ignored
Motet, your file exhibits this behaviour for me, too. I looked through my past cases to MM and apparently I also reported this 4 months ago. I even sent them a file which demonstrated the problem but their response, as usual, was that they couldn’t reproduce the problem and that I should reset my pr...

Re: Finale 2012 very slow scrolling
I would also turn Automatic Update Layout back on. Unless you're very careful to do it manually all the time, you're asking for trouble.
FWIW, while I don't remember specific problems with slow scrolling in F2012, I find v. 25 to be fast and responsive (within the confines of the usual bugginess).

Re: 4K resolution issues
I don't believe that Finale has even caught onto the idea of shunting tasks to multiple cores, let alone graphics cards. Let's see what the next update will provide I can't imagine that MM isn't working on this, as well as something like Sibelius' magnetic layout.

Re: Muting top staff causes tempo marking to be ignored
I remarked about this annoying and unexpected behaviour quite some time ago. It's works the same way on the Mac side. Shall we call it a 'feature'?

Re: 4K resolution issues
There have been several complaints about this on the Mac side with people using Retina or other high-resolution screens. Apparently Finale isn't able to deal with this well yet. Sadly, the only 'solution' I've read is to change to a lower resolution which, of course, isn't why you bought your 4K lap...

Re: augmented unison
After trying several things, I think I'm just going to go with two layers. I'd like to put the flat after the note because I think it looks better, but I'm worried this notation is already taken. Does anyone know if an accidental after the note is already in use? Quarter-tone music, or something? I...

Re: augmented unison
Good jokes I've got one: What's the definition of a Triad? It's a Chord with the 6th left out. BTW, in the Gershwin example, that's either a D7+9 or Ab13. ( No Bass Note showing ). So it's really either E#/F#, or F/Gb. I know the spelling in the example is common, but to me it's not an Augmented Un...
