resizing noteheads
In the attached file I have cue notes as well as cello notes. The cue notes of course are smaller. I wanted to enlarge the cello noteheads a bit, but when I applied the resize noteheads tool (plug-in) I see that it enlarged all the noteheads including the cue notes. Other than doing this note by not...

In this movement from my piano concerto, I hid
the blank staves, but now I decided it would be better to
show them. How do I do that? See attached.

Re: still confounded -measure regions
Thank you! A simple thing like this and my math gets confounded. You are correct about the movements. … region 3 is showing meas. 35 at the beginning. Why? … Not true. It is movement 3 that shows meas. 35 at the beginning, not region 3. My guess is that each measure number region was supposed to cov...

still confounded -measure regions
I have three measure regions here.
1. Meas.1-34, (display as 1-34)
2. meas.35-87, (display as 1-53)
3. meas.88 - 197 (display as 1-110)
But region 3 is showing meas.35 at the beginning. Why?
See attached.

Re: page and measure numbers
Oops, my bad. Thank you! I never suggested to type 1... Delete the 41. You have page numbers at the top of the pages. If you want them at another position, select the handle, right-click on it (or Ctrl-click on the Mac), select "Edit Frame Attributes" (to define their position, the page range, etc.....

Re: page and measure numbers
I like your suggestion actually. I can see how it might lead to confusion. Thank you. Just a suggestion- In the very first measure, you have staccato dotted quarters written. This will lead to confusion on how long the notes really are - there is really no such thing as a staccato dotted quarter not...

Re: page and measure numbers
I followed your direction and typed "1" - but "41" appears (below meas.9). Then I corrected it to "1"but no page numbers on the following pages. See attached. Text Tool. Double click on the page to create a text. You will see a blinking line. Then text menu -> Inserts -> Page Number. The sequence of...

Re: page and measure numbers
I'm getting your measure regions suggestion but I'm just not getting the Page numbers. It keeps coming out wrong. Could you walk me through it? 1) For "smart" page numbers, you have to create a text (Text tool), then Text menu -> Inserts -> Page Number. You can (Edit Frame) specify the region where ...

I am stumped. See attached. Page numbers: the first page of music is "1" but I can't seem to get the following pages as "2", "3" and so on. How do I do it? The second movement, which begins on the last page of the attachment, is showing the first measure as "3." How do I get the first measure to sho...

Re: formatting problem
I appreciate that. Regarding the courtesy accidental, what I meant to indicate is that the trill goes from A to Bb, not A to B natural. Is there a better way to indicate such? Hi musicus, Check measure 93.. there is a courtesy accidental behind the half note... it appears to have been moved with the...

Re: formatting problem
Thank you! Looks great - can you tell me how you did it, so that I can fix it on my own next time? To answer your question, I simply don't know the answer. Sorry. The attached file has the quick page turn fixed. What happens when they try to print the odd size A4 on a printer that has only letter si...

Re: formatting problem
The page lengths are good, thank you. But the page turn from 3 to 4 is not because it's too quick for the player. That's why I put the music on pages 2 and 3, so no page turn needed. Page 4 is blank, which apparently the orchestra librarian would like (for separating from other instruments). Here is...

formatting problem
In the attached file the pages are uneven in length. (The eventual size
should be A4 or A3.) I tried to fix the length using Page Layout/redefine pages (all)
but what happens is after page 3 it inserts a blank page and then one more
page with the last 4 measures of the music. Suggestions? Thanks.

cue notes in percussion
In the attached file, I want to show at meas.18-19
what the violin is playing before the percussion starts
at meas. 20. Those cue notes are not exactly correct.
For example they should be B C# D# G# in meas.18.
How do I do it? Thanks.

notes dangling
In the attached, the measures starting at 92 were a multi-measure rest. It
looked fine. Then I broke it to display the actual measures, but in so doing
the "dangling" notes (see attachment) appeared at meas.103. How can I correct it
so that the dangling notes get placed correctly?

Re: system spacing
That may be so, but now I am satisfied with the visuals. What you pasted into has smaller system margins. You should still watch the video, since somehow you unwittingly changed the margins in the original document. It's essential to understand how it all works and what the various settings are for....

Re: system spacing
I'm not sure where I got this term from. Years ago I used Cubase and possibly that was their terminology for a blank document. Somehow that stuck with me. Sorry if it's not a Finale term.

Re: system spacing
I just copy/pasted the entire thing to a blank autoload (see attached) and I can now drag the system handles (the tiny boxes beneath the measure numbers) so that the systems are spaced properly. Watch Jason Loffredo's video on the subject of page formatting: https://www.conqueringfinale.com/perfecti...

Re: system spacing
Let me clarify. I want to drag a single system, for example, the 2nd system up, beginning at meas.5. How do I do it? I don't need to drag all systems globally. Oh, you're right--that works with the System tool. It's really the staff handle, but if you drag the top staff it moves all staves in the sy...
