On the attached file, I applied beams over barline in meas.21-22 and
24-25. But I get these grayed out notes with incorrect beaming. I followed
these prompts: highlight measures/plug-ins/note, beam, rest editing/Patterson/
beam over barlines/create.

I have letter-size paper in printer but when I try to
print the attached page it's telling me the document
is not matching the size of paper in the printer. I don't
quite know what I am doing wrong. It has never done this
before. See attached.

Not sure what you mean by "right arrow." I'm on a Mac. Do you mean selection tool or speedy entry tool?

In the test2 file, in measure 2, you had a hidden eight note. In Speedy, use the right arrow on the Db to go to the next note and type O to make it reappear.

I'm not quite getting it. See attached. In speedy entry I place the cursor over the "shadow" notes, then you'll see the result I pasted into in meas. 4.
Second problem is beams over barlines (using Patterson). Details in my next post.

Thanks. I got the second part of your advice, but not the first part. I tried to delete the last two eighth notes in m.102 using the eraser tool but that wouldn't work. So I erased the two "correct" notes in the measure and then re-entered the correct notes at the end. Was there a better tool to use...

In the attached, no matter what I do, the strange layout
m.102-3 won't update. I highlited the measures (measure
tool) and then Command-4. Nothing happens.

I get the list of parts to extract (see attached below).

Do you leave files open for long periods of time (more than a day)?

I'm having this issue repeatedly, where Finale is not permitting me
to save an edited file. "You don't have permission to save the file
in the folder 'desktop." When I go to permissions, it says "read and write."
My Finale version is 26.3.1. How do I fix this problem?

In other words, "always place outside staff" should be unchecked, that way
