Re: enharm

I will try it. A. I do not know what you did, but these steps seem to work: Selection Tool. Double-click the G♮. Finale switches to the Simple Entry Tool, with the G♮ selected. *) Hit the Down-Arrow key, to move the note down. Now you have F♮ (and the note is still selected). Simple menu > Simple Ed...

Can't figure out how to change the G-natural to F-##. It just keeps changing to Abb. Thanks.

Be sure to Redefine Pages in the Page Layout tool after you change the margins.

Re: moving systems

I have compared the Page format you did versus the one I attached very carefully, and the only difference I see in the settings is your new distance between systems. I don't see what see what adjustment you made that made your attachment look good. In your example, there is adequate distance between...

Re: moving systems

Not quite getting it. When I go to Page format for score/System margins/left, I tried changing it from 0 to 1 but nothing happens. See attached. Document -> Page Format -> Score : redefine the system margins and to apply them, Page Layout tool -> Redefine Pages -> All pages That's one way. Another o...

musicus,

I am not sure I understand.

Take a look at the attached Finale document.

Is this what you need?

moving systems

On the attached pages, you can see that "Hpschd" appears on page 2 too far to the left. I know how
to drag each system individually, but I don't know how to move all the systems (starting with page 2) with one step. Thanks.

Re: Dorico?

I would love to know how to make quantization work in hyperscribe. So far it has only produced gobbledygook for me. Does Dorico's version of Hyperscribe work better than Finale's? The problem is that we don't play the keyboard absolutely metronomically. I could see software ("AI"?) trying to accommo...

Re: Dorico?

I used to have Cubase. I could play anything into it, and it could auto-quantize to 8ths, 16ths, etc. There were other problems with it though, can't remember specifically, but enough to abandon it. Does Dorico's version of Hyperscribe work better than Finale's? The problem is that we don't play the...

Re: Dorico?

Mogichans? - I assume you mean magicians? :-) Understood. I am one of those mogichans who rely on their musical literacy. In other words, it's much easier for me to write notes than to synchronise in Hyperscribe. If I need an audio file, I write it down in sheet music first. I cannot comment on the ...

Re: Dorico?

Thanks for your post and I will try to answer your question or puzzlement. As I stated at the top, I am considering Dorico for simple keyboard input, quantization and simple notation. For example, say I'm improvising some vague ideas at the keyboard, in a steady rhythm, possibly with a click. This m...

Re: Dorico?

I'm not familiar with M or D. Have been using Finale for 20 years - one might say it's like a marriage. Am looking carefully at the various comments before I leap. As I mentioned, I'm considering Dorico for simple notation, my intention is not to replace Finale. I appreciate everyone's feedback on t...

Dorico?

Hi- I'm thinking of adding Dorico software onto my hard drive which would be in addition to my Finale v26. It would be for simple keyboard input, quantization and simple notation. Are there any known issues with installing and using Dorico, for example, that would have a negative affect on Finale? I...

Re: looking for notation sequencer

Thanks, I'll check out your recommendations. My keyboard/piano skills are fortunately higher. Yes, I've tried...

looking for notation sequencer

I'm looking for a notation sequencer compatible with Mac system 10.15. The attachment gives an example of what I'm looking for. I played a passage "unevenly" and it gave meas.1-2. What I intend is meas.3-4, as if it quantized on the fly. So I want a simple musical notation - not a graphics chart. I ...

Re: articulation markings

Thanks John. Tradition also plays an important part in making decisions concerning music notation. Some things are "always done" in a certain way, so musicians come to expect to see them that way. That might explain some of the apparent discrepancies in the information that you have received here. Q...

Re: articulation markings

Thanks for your thoughtful comments. I tend to agree with you that the dots under the quarter notes makes the score less cluttered than with lots of eighth rests. On the other hand, I received the opposite advice here when I used similar notation. The objection was that my notation was confusing, an...

I know this is a bit off topic for this forum, but I'd be curious to hear your take on the articulation for the attached Prokofiev score from Op.31 (Tales...grandma), since some of you have shown expertise in this area. On the first example, does he mean short, staccato on the LH chords? If so, woul...

The "Engraver Font Set" is installed on your computer when you install Finale.

Re: fingering slur

I am very slow this morning. How do get to the engraver font? Thanks. You can use one of the elision symbols to be found in the Engraver Font. They look like little slurs. Then you position it by hand over or under the numbers. Or you can use an actual beat-attached slur. This becomes necessary when...
