Re: Epson EcoTank Printer
Thanks, Motet. Epson has been advertising this as some new inkjet technology that is the equal of or better than a laser. In fact, they are going to stop their laser production.

Re: Epson EcoTank Printer
Thanks for that, oldmkvi. I was hoping that it was actually cheaper to run, better quality printing and more environmentally friendly than my current laser printer. What model did you get and does it duplex?

Epson EcoTank Printer
Has anyone used one of Epson's EcoTank printers for music? I am wondering about the print quality and if it is the equal of a laser printer.

Re: Split screen
Thank you for doing all that, bakkumd. That was going above and beyond and I really appreciate it. I had actually decided that Moom looked the best of the ones I saw reviewed, so your recommendation was very helpful. I'll try it!

Re: Split screen
Thanks so much, bakkumd. Loving the SteerMouse. If I describe what I need more precisely, could you tell me if BetterSnapTool would be appropriate? I might have a Finale window open on the main monitor (landscape) with one system completely across at high zoom. Above and below it might be two PDF so...

Re: Split screen
Interesting. So no one uses a split screen app on a Mac? I see Magnet and Rectangle recommended. Just wondering if anyone had experience using either with Finale.
And Moom is another one.

Best split screen app for Mac? I often have 4 or more windows open on two monitors.

Re: Inadvertently hiding a window
Continuing this somewhat tedious monologue in case it might be of help to someone. What does work well is to assign the Application Switcher to two buttons on the mouse by means of SteerMouse, one for each application that is being used. This allows switching with one mouse click and without selecti...

Re: Inadvertently hiding a window
Thanks, N. It's an interesting idea. If I programmed a button on my mouse to do Command-Tab, it might be a better way to change windows. I'll try it. I read online that I am not the only one who has been stymied by the Option click behavior. Just discovered that I can assign the Application Switcher...

Re: Inadvertently hiding a window
Thanks, Peter. I was afraid it was something like that.
But I am not doing an Option click. I am doing an Option-Command or Option-Space bar click. Mac doesn't know the difference? Or does it first process the Option and then add the Command? That would be awful.

Inadvertently hiding a window
If I have a Preview window and a Finale window open, and the Finale window is in focus, if I forget to select the Preview first and instead click on it directly with the Finale Hand Grabber keyboard short cut, Option-Command, it hides the Finale window. And the opposite is also the case. If the Prev...

Re: MusXML comparison
Thank you, AnneMillington. My wife was referring to something she had used to compare Excel spreadsheets, but thought that there might be something along the XML lines that could help me in proofreading. And perhaps I have found it with N's help. I have no experience with XML or coding, so the produ...

Re: MusXML comparison
But wouldn't the results read out as a text file? Could that be converted back into music notation? I was thinking of something that would show errors by means of colors or whatever in the original file.

MusXML comparison
Wondering if a program exists that compares and tabulates differences between MusXML files. It might be useful for proofreading files that move from one program to another. For example, a Dorico file exported to Finale. My wife mentioned that such programs exist for XML files.

Re: hiding rests in simpler polyphonic music
I believe there is. You can use Voices instead of Layers. Voices can "launch" from any specified note within the measure.
But I never use Voices, so I am no expert. Why that is, I can't quite explain, except that I like the simplicity of layers.

Re: Hand Grabber Keyboard Command
I had forgotten that, Ben. Probably because I've never had a mouse that had decent scroll wheel. I should try a trackpad, but do wonder about precision. Which one do you use?

Re: Hand Grabber Keyboard Command
I use an Adesso upright mouse which has only a vertical scroll wheel and does it very poorly. Before that an Apple Mouse that also had a poor scroll wheel. I am finding this new SteerMouse method much better. I use very few applications and will add those to the SteerMouse list of applications as I ...

Re: Outgoing Key Signature Question
...I have heard that it has been officially decided, in the latest rules for writing musical text, that it is no longer necessary to show the acidentals of the former key when changing the key... For what it's worth, Arnold Arnstein had decided the same thing and was no longer canceling key signatu...

Re: Hand Grabber Keyboard Command
Thanks for your kind words and help, bakkumd. I also find these forums incredibly useful and have learned a lot from them. Re: Hand Grabber Keyboard Command
Thanks so much, bakkund. Now I get it. So it's Catch 22 time. I want to match the Finale shortcut and Preview shortcuts but I can't change the Preview shortcut to something that Keyboard Maestro can deal with since there is no mechanism for changing Preview shortcuts. So that would answer my origina...
