Re: Does this Style of Double-Chord Notation Work?
Is there a convention for this? If so, you probably want to follow the convention. For guitar music, I don't know that I've ever actually seen a piece that designates a capo and then displays the concert pitch chords along with the capo chords. Does anybody who's going to play the piece actually car...

Re: Removing a rest that shifts entire part
Select the entire staff, from the note after that rest to the end, and drag it to the left by one beat. You will see a box around the selected group, so you can see how far to drag. This is generally easiest in scroll view. Ha! I was going to suggest that, but wanted to see what others might come u...

Re: Simple Entry: Insert notes with keyboard
Yes. You would think they would have implemented a key stroke for inserting notes between two existing notes. I guess that's where speedy comes in.

Re: Simple Entry: Insert notes with keyboard
Or you can alt-4 the second quarter note as well, repitch the next two quarters if needed and retype the 4th beat.
Still not elegant, but saves you reaching for the mouse.

The manual says control double click is how to do it. I messed around quite a bit and couldn't get anything to work right. Good to know the correct combination.

I don't think there are many who notate for guitar hanging out here. I do quite a bit, but I don't usually deal with bends.
If you want to post a sample of what you're talking about, I'd take a look at it.

I've had no luck trying to use ASIO with Finale and less luck still trying to use ASIO4all with anything.

The second issue can be addressed in playback settings. Click the speaker/gear icon next to the tempo window. In the middle of that window you should have the options that define where playback starts and stops. These settings are document specific, so you have to set them for every new piece you wo...

Re: How do I repeat a note/chord several times?
I was able to copy just a single note with Copy/Paste Multiple. If you're copying whole measures, you can just select the source and then Ctrl+Alt-click in the target measure, which brings up the Paste Multiple dialog. I feel like somebody just demonstrated electricity for the first time. I've been...

You'll never find digitally produced audio, regardless of how expensive the sampled set, that sounds real. Zuill Some of the things that have been done with the Vienna Symphonic Cube are pretty amazing. Stuff you're hearing with VSL is painstakingly assembled phrase by phrase in a DAW using multipl...

In the Aria player window, select the Effects tab. To the left of the headings CONVOLUTION and AMBIENCE is a gold toggle that looks like a volume knob. Click on these to toggle that reverb bank on or off.

Layer collisions is a huge issue for me. I notate a lot of guitar music. I stopped upgrading after 2010, but finally upgraded to 25.5 based on them finally fixing one issue with accidentals in layers.

Re: Mark notes in key signature??
In simple entry with the note selected typing the p key will place a cautionary accidental in front of the note. Typing p repeatedly will alternately remove or replace the parentheses around the accidental. In speedy entry, placing the cursor on the note and typing * on the number pad or shift * on ...

Even if you delete the last rest, entering an 8th on the last half beat triggers the bug if you use a qwerty key (letter), for example. If you click with the mouse, however, the bug is bypassed. Zuill I'm able to enter both tuplets without a hitch using just the qwerty keyboard. The trick (in Widow...

You probably need to look into something like Vienna Symphonic Library and MIDI sequencing software. Expecting a notation program to provide performance perfect playback is unrealistic.

Go to MIDI/Audio > VST Banks & Effects
Click on the edit pencil for Bank 1.
In the Aria player change instrument 3 to "Solo Violin KS 1" rather than just "Solo Violin".
"KS" after an instrument name means "Key Switches".

don't you think the note that you have to write down with some effort is a note getting more attention than one written down with no effort at all? No not in the least. Re: Note Not Played with Human Playback
The note is the same in both layers. It isn't possible to play more than one instance of a note simultaneously on the same channel. This is a MIDI limitation, not a Finale or Human Playback limitation. You'd have to set each layer to play back on a separate MIDI channel to get correct playback. Sear...
