Re: Listening to MIDI files
Let's both back off with the personal insults, and let me pose a situation. You go to the hospital, and say, "It hurts." You might even say, "My head hurts." Do you expect the doctors to hand you a pill, and send you on your way, or would you expect to be asked a few questions, first? That's exactly...

<head slap> How stupid of me. Here I assumed that, expert user that you are, you had already tried setting the widgets to ABC, and it it didn't work, and so, you had a problem.
You win.

Bob,
You ought to send your (very good) suggestions in to MM, through their support page. Remember, this is not an official MakeMusic forum, and they don't monitor it.

No? Then how was he supposed to figure out what is causing your problem? Because it's YOUR problem: if other people had the same issue, it would have been all over the forums by now. There is something in your configuration, or something that you have or haven't done, that's causing the problem. If ...

Try disabling that WaveIn device, whatever it is. If that works, see if there are updated drivers for it. Also, contact Finale tech support, and let them know about the problem.

Let's be a little more polite, bucko. Peter is trying to find out as much as he can, so he can try to give you a correct answer. He doesn't work for Finale (nobody here does,) and is under no obligation to tell you anything at all.

In the playback options (Click the loudspeaker button in the playback bar) there is an option to set the Playback Region. Set this to Current Counter Setting.

Create them as a text expression. You will find the arrows in the EngraverTextH font. (That's not a misprint: EngraverTextH)

Re: TEXT TOOL: to write symbols ∆ and ø
To make the ALT key business work, you must: Press AND HOLD the ALT key, while you enter the numbers FROM THE NUMBERPAD. (Remember that the number is 4 digits, even though we often just refer to it as 3 digits. So, when Peter said to enter 191, you actually have to enter 0191.) Then, release the ALT...

Re: Finale 2012 Performance issues??
Have you tried contacting MM tech support? They would have the most information on running on different systems. FWIW, I agree with you. I think that shifting tools, or selecting notes, takes longer in 2012 than it used to.

Click the text tool. In the Text menu, Font... Set the font to Maestro, click OK. Back in your document, double click to open a new text box. Now, you have two choices. You can go back to the text menu, and Insert>Symbol> scroll down the character you want, and click. Or, you can hold the ALT key do...

Re: Creating a Chorus/Refrain in PrintMusic?
Welcome to the forum. PM won't do this automatically. There are a couple of ways around it. You can extend your chorus from the middle line of your lyrics. You can enter the chorus in any verse. Then, in the lyrics menu, select Adjust Syllables. A handle will appear on each syllable. Click/drag arou...

Do you have Use MIDI Device for Input, checked?
Does the keyboard worK in other programs?
Did you have the keyboard powered up, before launching Finale?
(I don't use Speedy or a MIDI keyboard, but these are the basic first troubleshooting steps.)

Re: stem direction in connected notes
Is there any reason you wouldn't want to break the beam? If not, select the first note of the second group, and tap the / key. That will break the beam, and you can flip the stems.

No. Text can be measure attached, or page attached. If you want to attach something to a note, use the expression tool.

Re: beam properties
Select the second note, and use the / key. It will beam back to the previous note. Sometimes you have to enter a note, beam them all, and then change the note back to a rest (use the R key for that.) It depends on the time signature and the beat, whether you need to do that.

Have you checked online to see if there is a Romanian font that has what you want?
And if all else fails, you can get a font editor and alter the fonts you have to include the character you need.

Re: Romanian fonts
I was able to find the T with the attached comma (forgive me if I'm using the wrong term!) in the Times New Roman font, Central European script. There is also the S with a cedilla attached, but not with a comma. I was only able to find the S-comma in unicode, which you can't use until Finale 2012. T...

Re: Splitting bars on the same system
If clefs and time signatures aren't important, lock your layout with 5 measures per system, and hide the middle measure.
If you want to show each system as a free-standing unit, you might consider using the Coda system plug-in.

No, there isn't. I just wanted to be sure that you hadn't found something new!
As for your original question, I can't make it happen. Can you post the file where you're having the problem? (You have to compress, or zip, the file to upload it.)
