I'm gonna find a external floppy drive. It seems to be the only way to make this work. By the way, do you know where I can find a Dutch manual of Finale 2010? You could also borrow from a friend an old PC with floppy drive or go to a PC shop to do the transfer to CDr, USB drive... Dutch manual ? Th...

As I wrote in an earlier post, isn't there a way you can save a midi file from the Roland sequences that you have created ? First check the Roland manual about this. I would be surprized if the Roland could save/export its files in some format which could be converted to midi file. Find in the manua...

For your info : several users have reported that, for some strange reason, "check accidentals" works more reliably if you apply "check ties" first ! (Select a region first). Lost accidentals are still occasionally present in Finale, even in the more recent versions, with tied notes, or when you chan...

There are several solutions :
1) Use another layer, and another patch (with another "instrument" and another midi channel)
2) Create an expression with playback effect (Type->Patch)

Re: Score with no key signature?

Use chromatic transposition, not key signature transposition (just choose the correct interval). Don't create a key signature in concert key (keep the music in C major), then there will be no key signature in the (correctly) tranposed part. This is possible in the "full" version of Finale, I don't k...

In the staff attributes window (staff tool, double-click on the staff), under Items to display, you can deselect everything (for barlines, clefs : you decide if you want them or not). Also deselect Options->Display rests in empty measures.
Add measures in the score until you fill the page.

Don't you have a click and countoff window to define a click just for countoff ? Not sure in PrintMusic. I don't know if PrintMusic offers the possibility to use text expressions with effect on playback (In the full Finale, in the expression designer window, select Playback->Type->Patch). Miker will...

You don't say which sounds you are using.
If you are using VST, Garritan, etc..., there is a master volume in that window, too, in Finale 2010.
Here is the equivalent window on the Mac.

Re: Composing Full Score in Concert Pitch

In the Document menu (Finale 2010 "full" version), use "Display in concert pitch". You can uncheck it if you want at some point to see the transposed score (the way parts will display). This of course will only be correct if each instrument has its correct transposition defined in its staff attribut...

Lock first (select a region first, then Ctrl-L or Cmd-L), then apply update layout, it will just rearrange the music within the locked setup. Maybe you could also take a look at Program options->Edit->Music Spacing and Update Layout, where you can try several options (you probably should prefer "mai...

Re: page layout in pdf file

Maybe you should begin with fixing things in the Finale document itself, because I doubt that the pdf conversion can move measures.
When you are happy with the layout in Finale, use "update layout", then select the contents of the score and lock it (ctrl-L on a PC or Cmd-L on a Mac).

You don't say which version of Finale you are using (please add that info to your signature), so my answer will be valid for Finale (full) 2010 (and earlier) : 1) Updated : see Peter's explanation about page offset. 2) Text tool ->Text menu->Inserts->Page number Then, rightclick on the page number t...

A shot in the dark : in the selection tool, try double-cliking on the line. If it gets selected, delete it.
You can also go though your shapes expression and articulation libraries and look for the line.

Re: Click track help

The click and countoff options can be accessed either in the MIDI menu or in the playback control window (at the bottom of the "fully unfolded" window). There you can assign the click to channel 10 (drums & perc) and find a sound you think is appropriate for a click.

It could also be a "stuck" key, either not properly functioning physically, or at a system software level. Restart the computer. You can also kook up another keyboard (via USB) to see if it makes a difference.

On your Mac, make sure that Audio set-up is correct and "sees" all your midi gear, and if there are several pieces, that "virtual cables" connect them. In the Midi menu->Instrument setup->Midi/Internal speaker set up, do you see the keyboard (it should not be in italics) ? If the keyboard also produ...

When I'm in Finale (on a Mac), if I select in the menu "about Finale", I can see my user ID and the serial number. That's one thing. The Finale 2010 disk (it is a cd or dvd) contains the whole program and can be installed again. I think consecutive minor updates (2010a, 2010b) need 2010 to be installed first. There are 2 methods : 1) for playback : a text expression with a playback option that changes the patch to alto flute (You found out about this one). And a second one to revert to piccolo. For part transposition : use a staff style for the alto flute transposition, and apply it to its region. 2) For...

Re: Solo on one stave

If you are talking about playback : Create a text expression, and select the thumbnail playback, then, next to type, select patch in the pop-up meny, and define another patch for solo violin.
Create a second expression to revert to the ensemble sound.
