I'll try that. thanks.N Grossingink wrote:How about the old trick of putting an dummy Articulation after the first note, to widen the spacing? Set music spacing to "Avoid Collision of Articulations". I think the articulation can be a hidden one.

And yes, this definitely seems to be one of Finale's weaknesses.

Re: a default setting for ties in tight spacing?
the spacing is otherwise fine, but Finale, by default, makes these ties really REALLY small.
if I loosened the spacing more it would look silly. besides, when you're talking about a half hour of music, that a LOT of pages. making looser spacing just makes it that many more pages.

a default setting for ties in tight spacing?
Does someone have a good idea for a default setting for ties in tight spacing? I find that I waste a LOT of time when working with string multi-stops. The ties end up showing as just a dot or a small smudge between two notes, rather than as any form of curved line. the problem is specifically with t...

Re: Methodology for saving and identifying Finale files
when I am working on a piece - and I don't even travel - I always number the files and identify them in detail. so for example, working on a movement of a symphony, I might call the file: symphony_6_2nd_mvt_MAY_16th_2019.musx I've just taken to identifying my files in detail. once I'm finished with ...

The public beta is available since last November and comes with an installer that automatically installs all required elements. has the eventual price on the plug-in gone down a bit from wh...

Re: measure number/regions for multi-movements
thanks both. David, the conceal barlines one isn't of much use to me, as these are long and measured cadenzas, with tempo changes, different time signatures, etc... I did some tests into the wee hours of the morning last night, and was able to get the desired result. but damn! it was a pain in the o...

measure number/regions for multi-movements
Is there a "best" way, a more efficient order in which to take each step when preparing a score that has multiple measure number regions? I'm finishing off the score of a violin concerto, and having ridiculous amounts of trouble with stupid details. first thing: I insert a measure between each movem...

does your plugin work in Finale 64-bit?
I recall the issue being that Jari had not done any upgrades to his LUA plugin (or whatever it was).

Re: Finale 26.1 released
Even MuseScore 3 boasts collision avoidance and automatic layout. The parts have an untidy layout... Try the "Perfect Layout" plug-in for Finale/Windows: https://elbsound.studio/perfect-layout It solves collision avoidance, automatic score layout, cleaning up of parts and much more. Here are a few ...

Re: Finale 26.1 released
I doubt I will ever switch to Dorico, its interface is just far too alien to me (but as the saying goes, "never say never"). That little opinion stated... are there any compelling reasons to switch up to v26 of Finale? I've been mostly working in v25 and quite happy with its stability. However, beca...

This is a software discussion board, specifically for Finale music notation software.
You MIGHT get some answers from some users here, but would probably be better served going to a forum that caters to ukulele players.

if you select "solo flute" as the instrument, it limits to one voice.
for multiple parts you have to use "player" samples.

I'm afraid not, sorry.
There most likely are, but I have not shopped any of them since I have very little need for the instrument.

Re: possibility of playing notes outside standard range?
It's not Finale that is stopping you from playing those notes. It is the library you are using (the library = the set of sounds). If you want an extended range for your harpsichord then you will have to find a library that contains those extra notes. The library that comes with Finale was recorded o...

Re: Recent computer upgrade, sell me your F2007/F2008 serial
a licence transfer implies the person doing the transferring will no longer be using Finale.
you keep the same licence regardless of which version you use.
since you say you already have 2007, why not simply install it on the new computer?

Re: OT: Performance Parts inside a Score
almost all of the chamber music I've ever bought (trios and quartets) have had the score in a slightly larger format than the parts, and the parts slipped in either in the middle of the score, or just inside the cover. as for orchestral parts, a full set of parts is generally too large to include wi...

Re: 2014.5 Text block appear in some parts but not others?
you don't necessarily need to hide them in the score... make the staff group you assign them to only appear in parts, and the parts you specifically need.
otherwise, it's really easy to hide something on a case-by-case basis in the score: select the handle and press alt+shift+ctrl+H
