Re: Cursor Position in NotePerformer fixed?

Not seeing it there, nor in the link for more information. Regardless, I'm thrilled that it's been fixed!

Cursor Position in NotePerformer fixed?

Is it just me, or has the cursor position issue with NotePerformer been fixed. I had gotten so used to the playback being way behind the cursor position that I had quit looking at it. However, last night I was playing a file and noticed the cursor was exactly where it should be for playback. I've si...

Re: Entering notes with both hands in Speedy Entry

It would be cool if in Speedy Entry you could use the sustain pedal to "hold" a big chord while you take your hands off to press the numeric key for the note entry. I've been known to press the numeric key with my nose out of desperation at times in this situation!

Re: O/T notation question

Yeah, I was thinking you would keep it notated as is with the first couple of notes, but spread the beams out into 3 for the last part before the arrow.

Re: O/T notation question

Does the tempo accelerate or just the rhythm? If it's the latter, it might be clearer to use a feather-beam approach.

You mentioned asking folks at KU about this. I'm a long-ago KU alum who majored in percussion performance. :)

Re: Any marimba player here?

I am not a marimba player. I have received so many different opinions I am going to rewrite the marimba part or eliminate it altogether. Perhaps just a treble staff part. From "No problem" told to me by the music majors at KU to "It's a challenge" by some amatuer players around town. I don't...

Re: Any marimba player here?

Due to the way the body moves with the arms, parallel motion is usually much more difficult than contrary motion.

It looks like they aren't showing when there is a Rehearsal Mark. Check your setting in the Expression Designer for the Rehearsal Marks for a checkbox called Hide Measure Numbers.

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't the E7(add11) include the G# as well as the A, while the E7sus4 just has the A?

Re: Template Issues - SOLVED!

So, now is the point where I admit my abject stupidity. For some reason, I have all the F26 support files in both the Root Library and the Username Library. I was editing the Root Library version, but Finale was pointing to the Username version. Doh!!! I apologize for wasting your time and thank you...

Re: Template Issues

Thanks so much for all your help and suggestions. Unfortunately, it still isn't working for me. I'm beginning to wonder if it's a F26/Mac thing. I do the following: Open Template file and Redefine Pages (All) Using the Page Format function, I set the margins the way I want them I select Redefine Pag...

Re: Template Issues

Thanks for the suggestion, but it's not the page size, it's the page and system margins that are moving. The page size is 11x17 in both the original template and the documents produced from it. In the original template file: Page 1 has the left page margin at 1" and the left system margin at 0" Page...

Is your template stored in the Templates folder, with an identifiable name ?
Yep, everything else seems to work with the template, it's just these two issues.

Yeah, I guess I could do it that way. Still seems odd to me that I can't select "File>New>Document from Template..." and have all the same settings as my template.

Template Issues

I'm having two issues with a template I've created I have custom page and system margins in the template, but when I create a new file from the template, it has the old margins. I have a custom Expression library for the template, but when I create a new file from the template, it looks like it has ...

Re: Finale 2012: How put accidental in parentheses?

I remember years ago when we were still doing everything by hand, I saw a lot of arrangers and copyists that would add a large right-hand bracket after the key signature to make sure people didn't confuse the elements of the key signature with accidentals on individual notes. I haven't seen it done ...

Overlapping Noteheads

I'm trying to create the following passage. However, when I create the upper-line 8th notes and give the first one an invisible notehead the stem position changes. That requires me to manually adjust every single occurrence of the overlap. I've tried it both using layers and voices and it seems to b...

Zuill
For clarity, I usually see that chord written as A7(#5) or A9(#5). It's similar to the way people write the half-diminished chord as Amin7(b5).

High CPU load

When I play a file in Finale 26, my CPU routinely runs around 120% and I get frequent glitches in the audio playback. When the file is just open, but not playing, CPU is less than 10%. I've got a new Mac Mini (2018) 3.2 GHz Intel i7 (6 cores) with 64 GB of RAM. I'm running Finale 26.1 with NotePerfo...

Re: Best practice for wind parts in large orch piece

I second Michael's process. I start with a full score that has individual lines for every instrument. From that, I create a playback score as he described, and also condense some of the pairs of instruments onto single staves to create a conductor score. It's a bit of a pain to keep track of all the...

Buffer Size

I am having issues with stuttering on playback and have had suggestions to increase the buffer size to 2048 or even 4096. However, when I go to the buffer setting, the largest value I can set is 1024. I've got a nearly-new Mac Mini (2018) with 64 GB of 2667 MHz DDR4 RAM running on a 3.2 GHz Intel i7...
