Re: How do I copy text?
It's not clear from your original post what all of your steps are. What are you doing in between apple-C and apple-V?

Re: Lyric hyphens between words (XML translation issue)
Are all of the hyphens present in the Lyrics Window? If so, maybe Copy All and transfer to Word, and replace the hyphens with spaces? If not, first thing I'd check is Document Options/Lyrics/Maximum Space Between Hyphens. Make it 1 and see what happens.

Re: Tie Removes Accidental
This is weird. Just tried it, and sure enough. I've never encountered this, probably because my workflow is different from yours. When I enter the Gb and immediately enter the tie, then when I enter the G natural, the accidental is showing. (Speedy entry, 2014) But if the notes are already in place ...

Re: Tie Removes Accidental
Regrettably, the YouTube video is "private." Yes, a slur is what's needed here, but I'm still confused. Putting a tie on the Gb that connects it to the G natural shouldn't make the natural sign disappear. Playback would be affected, sure, but that should be it. I'm most interested to know more about...

"the bar line changes" = the width of the measure changes? Have your friend shut off automatic spacing.

To adjust the lyric baseline for only one system, you use the third triangle.

Subtitle is a Text Insert which appears only when you choose it within an active Text Block. (At least, that's how it works in Finale.)

You can't just turn off your speakers?

You haven't accidentally switched the Show Recent Files setting in Program Options to zero, right? Couldn't hurt to check.

Re: to hide the key signature?
This raises a question that I confess I don't know the answer to. How does the difference between Ab major and F minor manifest itself? Notes are notes, chords are chords, so neither of those. What changes by setting up one or the other? After 20 years, am I about to learn something that will accele...

Re: C6/9 chord
Just guessing that Finale thinks the slash is indicating a bass note (though why it's changing 9 to C is a mystery). Do you have an option for the suffix that doesn't have a slash in it?

Re: Burning Finale files to a CD
I think the catch is that you're trying to play them in a CD player. They should play properly in WMP or somesuch, but I think CD players want .cda files.

CDT (or, more practically, CT all year 'round), not CST. The situation is already confusing enough!

If you'd rather go the hardware route, I heartily endorse the Genovation 24-key Control Pad 683. Besides that, on a lark, I recently acquired Logitech's G110 keyboard, which also has dedicated programmable keys.

You might want to bookmark the online Visual Index. They used to send a hard-copy version of this, with everything labeled, but now you have to click on the thing you want to get a pop-up. http://www.finalemusic.com/usermanuals/ ... _Index.htm

Re: Problem with Accidentals between layers
In the circumstance you describe, you need to force Finale to show the natural on the layer-2 G. In Speedy, that's the asterisk * key, not the P (forced accidental in parentheses) key.

Re: Repeating the same note
Gosh, Miker, don't you get it? It's because you tap the R key seven times after the note is entered instead of tapping the 4 key eight times. On a simultaneously more serious and more frivolous note, you could repeat the eighth note across a measure by entering it once, highlighing it, then using th...

I'd put a fermata over each note. I'd also consider placing the two notes in a stack, with a fermata above and the tremolo below.

Just for the record: Finale is beaming correctly in 3/4. Your music, as seen on the video, should have a 6/8 time signature.

Re: Adding non-existing chord: Cm(+5)
My (custom-made) chord suffix file includes m+5, with the +5 slightly elevated. I use it only to show an inner voice progression, so, for instance, Cm+5 would be the middle chord between Cm and Cm6.

Re: Weird Chords
In my experience, while there might be good reasons, there are also lots of bad reasons. Like, having no idea how chord symbols are supposed to be expressed. I can think of numerous examples in the vocal selections versions of Sondheim and Kander & Ebb songs where the editor was clueless.
