I've isolated the measure with the triplet in question, in case anyone can see why making one hook length a positive number and one negative is working to making the hooks point in different directions.

Problem solved:

When I copied and pasted movement 2 so that it was one document with movement 1, the problem disappeared. I still don't understand, but I am glad.

I'm editing a score from 1995, back when Petrucci was the thing. When I try to change the Default Music Font in the Document menu, I get an error message saying that Finale does not support doing this—which is a mystery to me, as I have converted from Petrucci to Maestro many, many times in the past...
