There is no possible way a tie with an accidental not being the same note happens in music. That is a slur.BuonTempi wrote:It won't stop you doing it if that's what you want.ebiggs1 wrote: Just like a tie with an accidental doesn't honor the accidental. That is a slur not a tie but Finale does it.

Re: MM Feature requests
I dare say there's someone doing some kind of notation that uses rests to represent different characters in a different font, and need to put some different symbol as an articulation on the top. Unless I was absent in theory class that day there is no situation where an accent mark is on a rest. Ju...

Re: MM Feature requests
I would love to have a programmable logic (e.g. in JWLua) in every articulation which gets executed each time the articulation is created, deleted, gets moved or is played back. Harald Whatever the reason or logic behind the inability to recognise 'whatever' is beyond my feeble brain. But it boils ...

Well it wouldn't be Adobe for sure. Probably not Microsoft either.

"But Finale is currently not intelligent about different symbols:" It knows enough to not play them. I am not a programmer so I have no idea but I do know what I want. Not restricting the issue to just leaving an accent mark on a rest, things like this need to be ironed out because that is how musi...

Ron,
"They lost a lot of top people a few years ago when they move halfway across the country, but have been rebuilding their staff."
You could submit the word 'Sibelius' here, too!

Ron, "What "rambling way" with regards to the placement of expressions and articulations? Re: MM Feature requests
Does MM have it's own programmers? I heard one time they hire out the programming. So, it only happens a few times year? If that is true and I really don't know, it could be why 'bug' fixes and feature requests take so long. Any clue? The seemingly rambling way Finale decides where to put things lik...

I did not know that was even possible. BTW, It would sure be nice if Finale had a real text editor that could do colors and more.

Re: MM Feature requests
My take on MM right now is bug swatting. New features are not put at a high priority.
What really bothers me is how far ahead Sibelius is getting. I have been using Finale for far too many years to start learning a new program.

Re: Has anybody heard?
There must be an updated version because the demo I d/l did not allow editing of parts. I, too, am not willing at this point to invest the time and $600 to a new platform. But I do like to see what the competition is doing. Sib and the almost clone Dorico doesn't interest me so I am hopeful silence ...

The demo I tried didn't have the ability to edit parts at all. Want to or not!

Re: Keeping track of finale file version
I don't think MM is going to use versions any longer. One reason the new '25' has no version number associated with it. At any rate I am pretty sure they won't do the year thing. It may be more difficult to keep versions seperate but I see no good reason to do so anyway.

Re: Get Rid of Simple Entry palette permanently
I used two monitors for a while. I use two monitors all the time for Photoshop and Lightroom. They both work well. Finale doesn't work as well but it can be done. It is clunky at best. I contacted MM about it. They said Finale isn't designed to use two monitors so you are just using what Windows can...

In Edit System Margins can't you specify the system on page 2 to 35? Unless I missed something this should make all those page alike.

Are you using 'edit filter'? You can select what copies and what doesn't.
