Hello,
The special tools palette keeps closing after random actions, is there a way I can have it permanently stay open?
Thanks,

Re: Half Notes in Tabulature
It's not really that it won't work necessarily, but when you're tabbing out Scruggs style or melodic style banjo, the standard notation won't give you enough information about where to play the notes. You could have a lot of options, comparing single-string style to melodic style. And standard notat...

Re: Half Notes in Tabulature
Thanks for the solution!
And it is banjo tabulature, so standard notation won't really help very much in this situation.

Half Notes in Tabulature
Is there a good way to distinguish half notes from quarter notes?
The first chord here is a half note, the following is a quarter note, but they look the same.
Thanks,

Re: Tabulature for select measures
Zuill,
Thank you, this is more along the lines of what I am looking for. However, now that selected measures are tab, even though Stems are selected as showing in the Staff tool, they are still not showing on the tab. Do you have any ideas for this? Thanks!

Tabulature for select measures
Hello, I'm wondering if there is a way for one to change the regional staff styles for particular type of tabulature, or do I need to make a whole new staff and use some creative cutaway work to put the tab in there. I'm trying to do 5-string banjo. Most of the document is in rhythmic notation, but ...

Change Measure numbering
How do I change the measure numbering to reflect the guitar part that I am modifying for a musical? Instead of measures 5, 6 and 7 for example, the music says 5, 5A, 5B, etc.

Re: Half notes and whole notes in guitar tab
Also is it possible to get the augmentation dots to be up above the staff with the stem? I think there is a way to do this with special tools, but I wanted to see if there is a setting that I can switch on.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Half notes and whole notes in guitar tab
Hello, I was wondering if there is a way to make the stems shorter for half notes in guitar tab, and to eliminate them immediately for whole notes. I have seen this style before in guitar magazines. I was able to get the stems and flags to show up, but I can't seem to get them to be specific any slo...

Auto-slur Melismas
Finale v26 windows
Auto-slur melismas plug-in creates regular slurs, as well as dotted-line slurs (seemingly without logic). I am curious to know what criteria suggests it to use a dotted line instead of a regular slur, and how to make it such that it only uses regular slurs.
Thanks.

Re: Copying lyrics into other "layers"
I wanted them all on the same line so that when I use the third arrow to shift the lyrics they all go at the same time. Then I move to the second verse to move those. I understand finale doesn't know what is a verse and what is a chorus. It only matters that the lyrics are all in the same "line" as ...

Re: Copying lyrics into other "layers"
I suppose the click-assign is the quickest way unless there is sort of a move/copy layers kind of trick like you can do for swapping different voices on the staff.

Re: Copying lyrics into other "layers"
Yes, imagine that the words for the first verse were accidentally entered in the second verse. This really was an issue in another document when I tried to put in the chorus but found myself still on the "verse 2" line. So I had to manually re-enter those lyrics on the verse 1 line. Mostly this is a...

Is there a good resource for learning how to do this? The chord library window seemed a little obtuse, I wasn't sure what I was dealing with.

Adding playback to custom chords.
Finale 2011b Windows
Good Morning,
I am wondering how to permanently add customized chord suffixes to the library as well as playback for them that finale doesn't recognize such as sus2, sus4, add2. I find that "sus" isn't specific enough for what I'm indicating.
Thanks!

Addendum:
Finale won't even let me use Ab7/C, changing it automatically to G#7/C. How infuriating.

Copying lyrics into other "layers"
Finale 2011b Windows Good Morning, I have accidentally written the syllables for a vocal melody in the second line beneath the first, where you can typically enter in a second verse. I know this isn't technically what we refer to as a different layer, as those are the options for multiple voices, bu...

Preventing Automatic Enharmonic Respelling in Chords
Finale 2011b Windows Good Morning, I am working on a lead sheet that has a G#7/B# heading to C#m in the key of E. I am of the school of retaining literal chord spelling as well as preserving harmonic function, so I am not inclined to rewrite this as Ab7/C. However, that is a separate discussion. My ...

How to break barlines across individual staves?
Hello, I'm running Finale 2011 on Windows, and I am wondering how to remove the intermediary barlines between staves in a group. This is a 4-part men's choral piece that I am engraving and I started off with a "piano" and renamed the staff and bracket, if that is pertinent information. This is what ...
