Last Triplet 16th tied to 8th note
I have a couple places in this piece where there are 3 Triplet 16ths and the last one is tied to a standard 8th note and followed by an 8th rest. The attached chart will better explain. Finale then beams it into the next phrase and it makes it unreadable, to me. I need the beam to break...it's kind ...

Re: Muted strings stroke in tablature
The strings are muted with the left hand and the pick strikes across them making a chick sound. I found an example...
Thanks btw!

Muted strings stroke in tablature
In the chart I'm making I have a rest on the 4 beat that I'd like to indicate as a strum on muted strings in the tablature.

Re: note durations in a chord
Thanks Miker! That was really helpful.
In the tab I would like to indicate a hammer-on from the grace note to the note in the chord but when I try the slur tool in the smart shapes I can't get the slur to behave and simply go from the D to the E note in the chord.

note durations in a chord
I have a C chord on the downbeat that is an 8th note in length but it involves an embellishment of a D note 16th to an E note within the chord. Perhaps I could notate the D to E as a grace note, but I'm not sure how to do that in Finale.

Got it, Peter! Worked like a charm and I reset the filter when I was done.

Re: Rhythmic Notation Stem Direction
I selected the staff tool, double clicked a measure which opened up Staff Attributes, hit Settings next to Alternate Notation and selected Rhythmic Notation and Stems up, but it made no difference.

Rhythmic Notation Stem Direction
I've written my chart using standard notation and tab and I've changed the standard notation to Rhythmic notation and I now want the stems to go up so I selected the notation staves and clicked on Utilities/ Stem Direction/ Up, but they won't change direction.

Re: Pick strokes for tab
That's great! Thank you Peter! Is there an easy way to copy the stroke patterns from one measure to the next?

Rests in Tab - layers
Hi,
In this chart the rests are visible in the tab but I think they're in a different layer and they don't appear in PDF version, and I'd like them too...

Re: Tab puts notes on wrong frets
Actually, I was able to copy the corrected measures in Tab to repeated measures. That would have been really tedious to have to do it over and over! Yep I am using the latest version of Finale on my new Mac Mini.

Pick strokes for tab
Hey again!
Is there a tool for adding strumming strokes above the tab? And can you set it for upstrokes on the &s?

Re: Tab puts notes on wrong frets
Hey Zuill, I hit Simple Entry and then click the proper note value and click on the tab number and in this case, use the up arrow; rinse and repeat...I'll try to go for all the eighth notes first, then quarters or dotted quarters etc. It's kind of tedious going back to clicking on the different note...

Re: Tab puts notes on wrong frets
Hi Peter, sorry I got the de-select backwards but Zuill is right. After I unchecked the box for Respect Ranges, nothing changed when I copied from notation to tab. The notes still went to higher frets on the wrong strings.

Re: Tab puts notes on wrong frets
Thank you Zuill and Peter! As to the Preferences-Edit-Respect Instrument Range, it was already checked and I think Zuill is right about a bug there. I did also select the Staff tool and checked the Ties box and that fixed that issue.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Tab puts notes on wrong frets
Hi, I just notated some chords and then dragged them onto the tab staff. I got the message box asking for the lowest fret and the default is 0 so I hit ok and on the tab, instead of the open G and D strings, it put the notes on the 5th fret of the A and D strings. If I have to fix all those notes it...

Awesome, Motet! Love those shortcuts!
Re: Endings
Good point, I guess I was trying too hard to fit it all on 2 pages...it probably is easier to read this way.
