To me that looks like a barline setting of Only Between Staves with a hidden system or something like that. Is there another system in Scroll View?

Under Speedy you probably have "Use MIDI Device for Input" selected.

I am not sure I understand your question, but the answer might be the plug-in JW Staff Polyphony > Staves > Merge to Layers.

The plug-ins folders are as expected for me, so there must be an answer to your problem.

The problem might be how you created the tremolo in m. 2. I cleared the measure, put in two half notes, then ran the Easy Tremolos plug-in. The tremolo I got looks different from yours but I can't post an example. The way I did it copies correctly. (But note I am on a Mac.)

Okay, silly me.

27.4 is listed in the Apps folder as "Finale" while the old version is listed as "Finale 27". I assumed "Finale" was v. 26 and "Finale 27" was new, thus my confusion. Also, the Finale on the Dock was linked to the old version.

Oddly, when I try to open it, I get: This file "Finale Maestro Font Default.musx" was created in a newer version of Finale (Finale v27.4). So my default file appears to be updated but my app is not. I don't know why the updater from within the Finale app fails for me, but now that I realize that the update is the full app, I will just download from the Finale website.

Here are the steps when I try to install 27.4.

New In Finale page > Install Update
Update downloads > Ready to Install
Install and Relaunch
Autoupdate — password
Installing Update
Finale Quits and Reopens — no update

I have 27.3 and Sonoma 14.1.1.

Am I missing a step?

I did "Clear All Items" for that stack and it worked. If you do this you'll have to put the tempo mark back in, as well as the instructions.

Following up on Mike's comment: using Speedy, if you uncheck Jump to Next Measure and Check for Extra Notes, it works. I didn't read Mike's tutorial so possibly he has an easier solution.

I entered the half note and two eighths, then used the Tuplet Definition to make it 3 quarters in the space of 2 quarters. Is that what you want, or am I misunderstanding?

Peter's solution is global, but if you want to de-consolidate rests one at a time, in Speedy type * (asterisk). Likewise, if the rests are split and you want them consolidated the asterisk does that as well.

Just in case you are not familiar with Staff Styles --

Staff Tool
Staff Menu
Define Staff Styles
Unclick Time Signatures
At Style Name click New and give it a name

Now when you go to Staff Menu > Apply Staff Style to > Score and Parts, you will see your newly created style in the list.

Post the file, or part of it. It's possible you have an expression that is overriding that setting.

Is it possible this has to do with layers? You could be entering in layer 1 and the next note is in layer 2 so it jumps to the next instance of layer 1.
