Re: how to space staves evenly
In Finale PrintMusic 2014, you can also space the staves with the Page Layout tool. Page Layout Tool > Page Layout Menu > Space Systems Evenly No, that's spacing Systems, not staves. Systems are all the staves in one continuous line of music on the page. You might have two systems on page, whose po...

Re: Printing with v25 is not completely black
I can't see a significant difference between the noteheads. The only difference I can see is the shaded edge. Is that the problem? Can you supply a PDF?
Are you using TrueType or PostScript fonts?

Re: Move mutiple barlines together
I am synchronizing a score with an audio file. So, you have an audio recording, and you want to match the scrolling playback of a Finale document to that recording? For a video? Is it of the same music, or do they complete/complement each other? You might want to consider just videoing Finale's scr...

Re: Move mutiple barlines together
What effect are you trying to achieve? Perhaps there's another way of doing it. Dragging barlines just increases the width of the preceding measure.
Is there a measure before the ones you're moving? If so, why not make that one bigger?
Or are you trying to create an indented system?

Re: Printing with v25 is not completely black
That's odd, as it's built-in to OS X. I would Add a new printer queue that doesn't use the Brother print driver. Then select that before Saving As PDF.

1. Select the measures.Mike A wrote:For example, take all the notes in four measures and lower them all an octave (no key change).
2. Press 8.
6 and 7 lower and raise selected notes by one step; 8 and 9 by an octave.

Re: Am I dense or what?!
As Peter suggests, you should be able to apply a tuplet to the existing notes, but then you'll be 2 notes short that you'll have to enter. My advice is to clear one measure and enter the notes as you want them. Then paste this to all the other measures, and use Simple Entry's Repitch tool to get the...

Re: Printing as PDF restricting save dialog size
Are you sure you can't resize? You should be able to drag the sides or corners to make the dialog larger. If that's the case, it may be that the preference file can't be written to. Try deleting the file "com.makemusic.finale.plist" in your user Library's Preferences folder. (NB, not com.makemusic.f...

I don't have much experience with percussion, but there is an Application Preference for whether Middle C is C3 or C4. Perhaps that is a factor?

If you write the Bass in Layer 2, this should be done automatically, when there are notes in the Tenor Layer 1.

The printing dialog box with the check list used to come up before I updated to the most recent version. Note that the checklist for parts no longer appears BEFORE the print dialog, but is now included within the print dialog itself. f the print dialog shows very little, you need to click on the sm...

Re: Latewncy in Hyperscribe
It's almost certainly one of the many and manifold HyperScribe and Quantization settings, but without checking the document to see how its configured, it's hard to tell. However, the general advice for people using HyperScribe is "Don't". :D I can be much faster and more accurate using Simple Entry,...

Re: Finding and eliminating instrument changes
Try "Change Instrument" for all the measures of the staff to Soprano, or whatever. Alternatively, if you can't see an instrument change in Score Manager, it might conceivably be a MIDI instruction. Select the whole document. Then, under Edit > Clear Selected Data, select "None", then Check "MIDI Dat...

You should be able to see al instrument changes in the Score Manager, if you click the little triangle by the side of the Staff Name. That will pull down a list which will include instrument changes.

You can specify a different position for Linked Parts from that used in the Score. Just set the Vertical position to a negative number.

Re: Printing with v25 is not completely black
1. Make a PDF from the print menu "Save As PDF". 2. Have a look at the PDF in Preview or Acrobat: zoom in massively. Is everything nice and clean/crisp, or does the problem appear there, too? 3. Print from the PDF. If the PDF looks ok on screen but prints poorly, then the problem is with your print ...

Re: Insert long Graphic in Scroll View
As Peter points out, there's no point in doing this in Scroll View, as you need to do aligning and laying out in Page View.
Finale's document window can display Rulers at the edges. You can also set a Grid to appear at regular intervals.

There is a preference in Document Options > Barlines to automatically add double bars after key changes. If you turn that off, it shouldn't matter.

Re: Text Blocks on just select pages in linked parts!
I don't want to have to go through all the other parts, and move that same text block off the page. There is a much easier way. You may consider it a "workaround", but there's always going to be some work in order to tell the app exactly what you want. 1. Create the Text block in the part you want....

Re: Changing Lyric Syllables
From your description it is my guess that you at some point copy/pasted music with lyrics. When you do so, Finale displays the same lyrics in both places. That's not correct. If you copy and paste music with lyrics, Finale creates new lyrics for the duplication. Changes to the original lyrics do no...
