I'd really like to see the original PDF or TIFF, if possible. I use SmartScore Pro, but they have other versions which are limited in what they do, but they all have the same scanning and editing capabilities.
You might not even need Finale.

I sit corrected. I thought the Finale Lyrics was newer than that.

Re: Dash
I think he was trying to insert the elision character. By the way, between the two versions I have, 2014.4 and 27, they've added a keystroke for the elision symbol, Ctrl+Alt+Shift+minus. Jose Oscar's bio says he's got Finale 25; I don't know if the new feature made it in by then, but if not, it mig...

Info in the Score Manager seems to be locked in to the linked text frames. If you need to make changes in the score, I would suggest using individual text frames, instead.

Were you typing anything other than a space or a dash between the syllables?
Are you using something other than a US keyboard?

Re: Problems using tablature
Your method may be part of the problem. It sounds like you used one of the "black box" programs which takes your picture and spits out an XML. So whatever errors may have been picked up in the scan (and I guarantee there were some) were buried in the XML. A program like SmartScore (which I use, but ...

And I don't understand the need for the cross-staff notes from the treble, since they are already in the bass staff.

Select the syllable in the score or lyrics window, and retype it. That will keep the rest of the lyrics from shifting.

Can you post the score, or at least part of it that shows the problem?
(You may not be able to post immediately, since you’re new to the forum. If that’s the case, post it to dropbox and give us a link.)

Re: Switch horizontal alignment of chord notes
Maybe it’s one of those “under the hood” fixes that they (claim to) make and don’t tell anyone. Or maybe it was an accident. Hard to tell, these days… And an off-the-cuff question, as I sit here looking at it. Assuming a 4/4 time signature, wouldn’t it be more correct to notate the layer one notes a...

Like Bill, they went in correctly for me. I don't have Auto Music Spacing turned on. On entry, the notes on beat one overlapped, but after applying music spacing (CMD-4) they jumped to this:

I was not impressed. He spoke glowingly about all the features geared to the education market. But very little about Finale. He was proud of the fact that he’s been with Finale for ten years. Ten years! I’ve been a user for twice that long, and I’m still a beginner compared to many. He mentioned tha...

Re: Undertie 2 syllables
Elision, not liaison! It’s a new character in F27. I don’t think it was in jo’s F25. It can be entered as a font character. Type an upper case I (that's an I like in Input ) where you want it, between the letters in the lyric. Then, select the I, and go to the text menu. (Yes, the Text menu will sho...

GailF,
Can you post the score? If the solution above didn’t work, we need to look under the hood.

COMPLETELY OFF TOPIC!!
My 2017 iMac is stuck at Ventura, and I would like to go to Sonoma. I have seen a couple of posts installing it on an external SSD, which I have, a 1TB Samsung T-7. Apple suggests buying a mini, and using that as the drive, which is certainly an option, but I'd rather keep the $700 in my pocket. I'm...

Does Dorico use any plugins? Or are they trying to make the program so good, that plugins from “outsiders” won’t be needed?
