I believe you will have to add another staff, and enter the metronome as percussion.

Check the staff attributes, as well, and make sure that Break Barlines Between Staves is not selected.

Yes, you can add staves between existing staves. Look at the Help files.

Closer than this?

But just to be sure, are we talking about STAVES, or SYSTEMS? If you just have a one-staff document, then each staff is a system, and the procedure is different.

With the staff tool, you can move the staves closer together. The exact method depends on the program and version that you are using.

I don't have Allegro to check, but there is a Transpose... command somewhere. Look in the Utilities menu. If it isn't there, look it up in the help files.

Look up CADENZA in the Knowledge Base http://makemusic.custhelp.com/app/answers/list Looking up answers in the KB is chancy, because the search algorithm will often return hits that make no sense. Also, the info is sometimes wrong. When this happens, I forward it to MM tech support. You learn to liv...

Do a mid-measure key change by splitting the measure where you want the change to be, and altering the time signatures while displaying the original time signature. for example, if you are in 4/4, and you want the key change after the 2nd beat: create two, 2/4 measures, and set the time signatures t...

There are no layers involved at all in the first four measures. In measure 5, the triplet on beat two would be in layer two; the rest is all layer one. Layers 8-11 also involve a second layer. Nothing there is particularly complicated. If you work through the tutorials, you should be fine. Also, wat...

Peter,
I think that in even in Speedy, the OP should be using layers, not voices. MM does a pretty bad job of differentiating between them, going so far as to use the term "voices" interchangeably with "layers."

Are you using a MIDI keyboard to enter your notes, or the computer keyboard, or a mouse? With Simple, it's, well, simple. If you insist on using Speedy, I can't help you, because I don't use it. I'm sure that there are instructions on your computer how to zip a file. Have you worked your way through...

It's simple. Most of what you want to do, you can't do in PrintMusic. If you have PM2011, you can't hide individual staves (although you can, in earlier versions) you can't do cross-staff notation, you can't do mid-measure key changes. You can do what look like incomplete layers by using rests, and ...

Are you aware that Allegro is still in v. 2007, and that MM has said they are not planning to update it?

Unless there were specific features that you need in Allegro, you would be much better off with a newer version of one of the other programs. I would recommend SongWriter2010, as the best value.

Not as far as I know. You will probably have to delete the bad note, or change it to a rest, and re-enter it in the other layer. Sometimes, you need to delete and re-enter the entire measure.

Another reason why most of us prefer to just enter the notes, rather than scan, proofread, and correct.
