Re: Forum basics

Scrolling might mean "popular", but I only saw it on topics with more than one page of posts. That would imply the topic is "popular", no?

Test to upload MUSX file.

Test seemed to work, but 100KB is too severe a restriction, since a blank default file is > 80 KB already.

Re: Forum basics

Don't know about the star, but the scrolling icon seems to indicate that there are more than one page of posts. You can click on which one you want to go to. Looks like a red icon means the post is unread by the user, and a blue icon means it has been read by the user. Looks like the star might mean...

Re: Repitch tool broken in 25.2?

It turned out to be a 'corrupted' preferences file, whatever that means. Since removing it and redoing my preferences, the Repitch Tool works normally. I'd be curious to know how the preferences file can disturb a single function, and what might have caused it. Oh well, Finale moves in curious ways...

Re: OT: Musical symbols for use in MS Word 2010

Worked fine for me. The size of the font determines how much positioning is required. Highlight the text to be baseline shifted. CTRL-D to open Font dialog box, choose Advanced tab. In Position: choose raised or lowered. In By: enter the number of units you want. You can use various suffixes like pt...

Re: Finale won't open a specific file.

There are so many options to keep track of. In the lower right corner of the File Open Dialog box there is a drop down for choosing which file types you want to display. This is SOP for the Windows OS. I must have long ago set it to display all readable files and promptly forgot about it. You must h...

Ronald J Brown wrote:(To "restore," simply change the extension of the .asv or .bak file to .musx and open.)
Ron,
you can open .asv(x) and .bak(x) files from within Finale. Just use "File->Open...", navigate to the file, and double click. No need to change the extension.

Re: Finale Script

There is a Finalescript option to turn on/off whether the palette opens when running a script from the FS menu.

Don't know if this related or not.

Re: A few "How to's" for a novice to this forum

Thanks,

I see that some functions that were not available have become so, now that I have been active for a little while.

Re: Blank measure?

It depends on which entry mode you are using. Simple Select the rest/note (CTRL-click on object) and press the "H" key. When entering notes/rests, the object is already selected, so just press "H". Speedy Position the cursor bar over the note/rest and press "H". When entering notes/rests, just press...

Re: Blank measure?

There is also this:

"Staff->Edit Staff Attributes->Display Rests in Empty Measures"

It applies to the entire staff, however, not an individual measure.

A few "How to's" for a novice to this forum

How does one contact the moderators/administrators? Many FAQs say to do so, but how? How does one send a PM to a user? I see no button or other mechanism on a user's profile. OK, I found it on one of the User Control Panel (UCP) tabs. I now see email and PM icons in the profile boxes next to posts. ...

I've been here since early 2015, but this is my first post. The MM forum is definitely locked now. All the entries can still be looked at but nothing new can be posted.
