Re: Tremolo Questions
I'm curious about everyone's thoughts regarding the full version of TG Tools. Although there are some nice features, it looks like much of what it does has already been incorporated into newer version of Finale. For the occasional tweak--like adjusting the beams of a tremolo--is it really worth the ...

Re: Tremolo Questions
Thanks, Peter and Bill! I knew you could manually adjust the beams, I was more curious about why it was that way. For kicks, I also looked in the Gardner Read's Music Notation and, interestingly, he shows the half-note tremolos touching the beams, but the quarter-note ones not touching. I didn't fin...

Re: Tremolo Questions
FWIW, this is how Sibelius and Dorico do the same tremolos.

Tremolo Questions
I have a couple of questions about tremolos created with the TG Tools Easy Tremolos plugin. In the first example, why are the beams connected to the stems for the half-note tremolo, but not for the quarter-note tremolo? Different_Tremolos.png In the second and third examples, which is the preferred ...

Re: Finale 25 very slow
There have been a number of posts on the MakeMusic site about Finale 25 running slowly on computers with Retina displays. You said you have a new computer, so it sounds like you might have such a display. It's not a great option, but one solution until you can afford the upgrade to Finale 26 is to t...

Rebar 4/4>3/4 to 3/4>4/4
I recently did a transcription for an artist that had numerous 2-bar passages that sounded to me like a 4/4 bar followed by a 3/4 bar. After talking to the artist, I learned it was actually a 3/4 followed by a 4/4. Is there any way to quickly rebar these measures? Unfortunately, none of the passages...

Re: Tubular Bells
T.B. is a common abbreviation for Temple Blocks and might be confusing. In the orchestral world, they're pretty much always called "Chimes," so why not just use that?

Re: Timpani tunings
I put the tunings in the part, but not the score, the conductor doesn't really need that info. If you're not a player, I strongly second (or is that third) the previous comments about running it by a player for guidance. Please realize also that even though you might have a really well worked-out se...

Re: vibraphone
As opposed to the piano, which lifts the felt when you play a note, the vibraphone is always muted unless you press the pedal. Thus vibraphonist always press the pedal as they are playing and just let it up for phrasing purposes or for muted effects. Thus, if you've written a long note, the player w...

Re: vibraphone
Assuming it's exactly 4 bars and not just a "let ring" situation, C, but no need for the pedal mark, it's redundant.

Re: Printer Recommendation
Thanks, everyone, for all the feedback and recommendations! I had seen several printers that would do 12x18, but was hoping I might get lucky and find one that could handle 13x20. Fortunately, the demand for that size paper is fairly low and I can continue to do those parts as single sheets taped to...

Re: F25.2 Plug-ins Folder Location?
The really weird part, though, was all of the normal Finale plugins were grayed out in the plugin menu. I ended up deleting and reinstalling 25.2 and that brought them all back.

F25.2 Plug-ins Folder Location?
It's my understanding that the Plug-ins folder should be at ~/Library/Application Support/MakeMusic/Finale (that's also what's selected in the preferences), but I don't see it. All my plug-ins are grayed out in the Plug-ins menu in Finale. I do see a folder called "Plugins" inside the actual Finale ...

Re: Printer Recommendation
I'm aware that this isn't your basic desktop printer and I'm okay with spending the money for the functionality. I've seen several that will do 12x18, but would love to find one that will do 13x20. I'm just wondering if anyone on this forum has had any experience with these. Thanks!

Printer Recommendation
Asking the brain trust here... I'm looking for a new printer that would allow me to do up to 13"x20" paper, double-sided. I do a lot of orchestral work that needs to have either 10"x13" or 9"x12" parts and I'd like to be able to print them 2-up, and just fold them rather than tape individual pages. ...

Re: Garritan Sound Balalaika not following dynamics or Mixer
I experienced the exact same problem with the Ukulele sound. No matter what I did with dynamics or in the mixer, that sound was always at full volume.
