Re: Problem 'Articolazioni' (Smart shape tool when PRINT)

Can you give an example of what you would like to switch off that is not possible at the moment?

Re: Problem 'Articolazioni' (Smart shape tool when PRINT)

Of course, this would be possible.
But ... this would make about 800 options. Way too complicated, not enough users interested, too much work testing all options and even more support requests where to find/how to use all the features.

Re: Problem 'Articolazioni' (Smart shape tool when PRINT)

Thanks, Anders, for the clarification. I was indeed a bit unsure what exactly your question was. If you want the plug-in to do only a few things, just deactivate the functions in the dialog. The user dialog of the Gold version has more than 200 options. However some "standard" features can't be deac...

Re: Problem 'Articolazioni' (Smart shape tool when PRINT)

The Perfect Layout plug-in fixes the "hairpin distance to dynamics" printing problem by automatically adjusting the hairpin length to what is printed. So after applying the plug-in the distance between the hairpin and the "attached" dynamic may look not optimal in some cases, but when printing it wi...

Re: The last gasp of Finale?

Yes, I fully agree with you, BuonTempi. I had hoped that I could convince MM to a cooperation the several times I have contacted them since 2015 - especially when I visited their headquarters in Boulder last year and gave a presentation of Perfect Layout to the whole Finale team. But as of today the...

I would love to be proved wrong, and discover that Finale 27 will have Collision Avoidance of all items; Vertical Justification of staves and systems; improved spacing of notes in layers; and all the notational fixes we've been waiting for.
All these are things that Perfect Layout already does.

Here is how the Perfect Layout plug-in (v1.60 to be released in the next days) handles vertical lyrics and word extension alignment with its default settings.

Re: On to Dorico

Here is a short video demo of making Ed's original Finale score more comparable with Dan's Dorico screenshot in just 100 seconds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTM4imFCXso It seems like Dan used more horizontal space. That's why it still looks a bit squeezed. I used Aruvarb (Finale's Bravura font)...

The Boulez.lib file has never been a part of the Elbsound Music Fonts Package.
But indeed Boulez.lib comes with the original Boulez font package which can be downloaded here:

John, that's why I suggested JetStream. They do little handy scripts like this which are started by a keystroke.

Re: Perfect Layout free update v1.2 released (more than 80 improvements and new features)

Michel R E, this has always been possible. But it takes less information into account, so not all functions are performed. You can also run it on single pages or a region of some staves and some measures. And, of course, you can run it directly on one part only OR on a staff plus its part(s) (if you...

Re: Perfect Layout free update v1.2 released (more than 80 improvements and new features)

Perfect Layout is a plug-in that is meant for processing a whole score (including parts). It's not meant for usage on selected articulations only, though it's possible to also run it only individual measures only. Some of the cases that you describe are pretty difficult to detect automatically (thou...

Isn't that something that you can already do with the automatic stacking of Finale 26?

Can you post a before/after screenshot of what you're thinking of?

Re: Perfect Layout free update v1.2 released (more than 80 improvements and new features)

Hi John, do you have any examples of what you are looking for with vertical/horizontal alignment of articulations? The plug-in removes many collisions by changing the vertical alignment, including most collisions with slurs, ties, tuplet brackets, dynamics and other articulations ("stacking of two a...

Re: To Power-Users: Patterson Beam Plugin

N Grossingink is right. You don't need to use the Patterson Beams plug-in for PL. It is just a reminder that the beams might look better if you run Patterson Beams before running PL. The message is something like "Running Patterson Beams is highly recommended, but not mandatory." In the manual it sa...

Re: elbsound.studio Perfect Layout

Ok, back to the main topic ... :-) Here is ebiggs1's Thais with the default settings of Perfect Layout v1.15 (before/after). The most discussable thing is the new staff/system distance which can be easily adjusted in PL: one can decide with a slider to give more space to the staves or to the systems...

We can give you support ebiggs1 on which settings in your file or in the plug-in you have to change. But as we wrote in our "Welcome"-email it is impossible to give support just by looking at a screenshot, not knowing how it looked before, what settings and fonts you used and if you fully followed t...

Re: elbsound.studio Perfect Layout

I haven't found it in the PDF help file, but, how exactly does one go about making the (vertical) spacing a bit tighter? The easiest way is to change the "Extra Vertical Collision Offset" value: it applies globally to (nearly) all vertical collision distances. (See https://elbsound.studio/perfect-l...

Re: elbsound.studio Perfect Layout

On the last file PL took out all the cue notes. Yes, cue notes in a score are by default automatically made invisible through staff styles, so that they only appear in the parts (see the sections on cue notes in the PDF manual). You can deactivate this feature, but usually one doesn't want to have ...

Re: elbsound.studio Perfect Layout

I am now trying it on a really simple four part chart and it is agonizingly slow. I has been at it for nearly an hour. Can you send us the file? Maybe it is a corrupt Finale document. Typically the plug-in needs ca. 0.03 - 0.2sec per frame. So if it is a score with 200 measures, score, four parts, ...

Re: crescendo and decrescendo

Hairpins work better in playback if they end with a dynamic expression. Because - only then - the human playback knows the proper end volume and the gradual change before. If you don't want to see the dynamic expression in the score, use a dynamic expression with a hidden font. Jan https://elbsound....

Re: JW Lua

Once the file is saved and then closed and reopened (or if you Revert to the last saved version), the dot goes back to where it was. That's (probably) the Finale bug, that JW Lua can't fix either. It just seems to not save the position in the file. It looks like a similar bug in Fin2014/2014.5 wher...
