Re: Changing page numbers

You don't say which version of Finale you are using (please add that info to your signature), so my answer will be valid for Finale (full) 2010 (and earlier) : 1) Updated : see Peter's explanation about page offset. 2) Text tool ->Text menu->Inserts->Page number Then, rightclick on the page number t...

A shot in the dark : in the selection tool, try double-cliking on the line. If it gets selected, delete it.
You can also go though your shapes expression and articulation libraries and look for the line.

Re: Click track help

The click and countoff options can be accessed either in the MIDI menu or in the playback control window (at the bottom of the "fully unfolded" window). There you can assign the click to channel 10 (drums & perc) and find a sound you think is appropriate for a click.

Thanks, but how do I import the music that I've been recording(and saving) into PrintMusic? I would like to hear/see the songs from my floppy disc in Finale. Again, unless the files you have created are midi files or if you can save them as midi files or MusicXML files (which I doubt is possible in...

It could also be a "stuck" key, either not properly functioning physically, or at a system software level. Restart the computer. You can also kook up another keyboard (via USB) to see if it makes a difference.

Re: Midi Keyboard makes sound, does not record notes

On your Mac, make sure that Audio set-up is correct and "sees" all your midi gear, and if there are several pieces, that "virtual cables" connect them. In the Midi menu->Instrument setup->Midi/Internal speaker set up, do you see the keyboard (it should not be in italics) ? If the keyboard also produ...

Many users make a copy of the score just for part extraction. There are many aspects one would like to see differ between the score and the parts : position, size of text blocks, such as titles, page numbers, but also expressions, time signatures etc... Many users have asked for these improvements (...

When I'm in Finale (on a Mac), if I select in the menu "about Finale", I can see my user ID and the serial number. That's one thing. The other thing is the authorization code. 2 installations are allowed, so you better don't loose any authorization. On the Mac, in the Help menu, you can de-authorize...

Re: window 7

The Finale 2010 disk (it is a cd or dvd) contains the whole program and can be installed again. I think consecutive minor updates (2010a, 2010b) need 2010 to be installed first. However, if you erased your hard disk, you probably have lost your authorization codes. Contact Make Music via their web s...

You will have to read the manual about linked parts, if you intend to use them. But I can already explain to you how it is possible to extract a single staff containing 2 instruments in 2 layers as 2 parts (each part containing only one of the layers). In the Document menu->Manage Parts Use the butt...

Re: Instrument changes

There are 2 methods : 1) for playback : a text expression with a playback option that changes the patch to alto flute (You found out about this one). And a second one to revert to piccolo. For part transposition : use a staff style for the alto flute transposition, and apply it to its region. 2) For...

Re: Solo on one stave

If you are talking about playback : Create a text expression, and select the thumbnail playback, then, next to type, select patch in the pop-up meny, and define another patch for solo violin.
Create a second expression to revert to the ensemble sound.

To make room for some text, use the layout tool and drag the systems up or down. You can make your whole page with 1 staff. It is not a problem to have final barlines several times, and different key and time signatures. Use the measure tool for that. And if you need to change the number of staff li...

To add a few details to Peter's explanation : Usually, cue notes are (if created by the plugin) in Layer 4. To hide them in the score, you can apply to the score only the staff style "Blank notation in Layer 4", which is normally included in Finale (In Finale 2010, when you apply the staff style whi...

If you suspect the document to be corrupted, create a new one, and copy and paste everything into it.
(PS : you could also update to 2010b, it fixes many bugs, although I haven't seen any mention of problems related to printing).

Another possibility exists in Document options->barlines. Uncheck Left barlines : display on multiple staves.
But the 2 staves will remain simultaneous, associated in playback. I hope that's what you want.

A preliminary clarification, just in case : if you want your chords to be played in a specific rhythm, you are going to use rhythmic notation, but you have to enter each complete chord (all its notes) in the measure before you apply the staff style "rhythmic notation". In other words, chord symbols ...

If designing the expression in Shape designer seems too complicated, I can think of an alternative.
