Re: Note-head color for selected notes
Is it possible to change the color of note-heads for a selected notes? Like individual notes or a region. I see color choice attached only to pitch. It's possible with a workaround, at least for the noteheads (no stems/beams/dots...). As graphics are the only items which can have any colour, one wo...

Re: Best MIDI Keyboard for Finale
The size is something to consider as small keyboards with only e.g. 25 keys need to be transposed to input higher and lower notes (they usually have dedicated buttons for that). 61 key keyboards won‘t fit on every desk, as well as an 88 key instrument. You‘ll be faster in inputting notes if you have...

Re: Page Format Issue - No Sound
If anything in any program doesn't get saved which it should, first make sure the program and/or the logged-in user has the writing permission to the drive & folder in question.
Just a thought.

Re: click on measure 1
actually, the sound for the track seems to be piano, not woodblock, but the reason you don't hear anything is that you haven't entered any notes on the new staff Very true. If you try what I suggested (add a drum set staff and enter notes for the metronome click), it should work. Usually, a "Side S...

Okay, then just add the drum set staff for the clicks and mute Flute #1.

Re: click on measure 1
Add a Drum Set staff, enter the metronome clicks and set this staff's attribute "Force Hide Staff".
Beware, your Flute#2 is set to "solo" - so unless you change that, you won't hear the clicks (and neither flute#1).

Re: How to... 3 issues
In my case I'd have to break all the barlines through 7 staves, except the central barline. What do you mean by "central barline"? This would only make sense if you have an uneven number of barlines, which would allow one of them being in the center. Maybe you problem can be solved with the creatio...

Would anyone here be willing to confirm that this bug exists other than in Finale 2014.5 on Windows? Then I can report it to MakeMusic. My results from Finale 25.5 running under Windows 7: File - Export - PDF method results in a PDF file of 48.241 Bytes (48 KB): File-Export-PDF.png Graphic - Export...

Re: Transpose a multi-key piece with corresponding pitch changes in playback
The Score Manager's transpose section is for transposed instruments only, like e.g. clarinet or trumpet. What you need to do is to select the key signature tool, select the whole piece and double-click. The key signature dialog box comes up. Select the new key to which the first bars of your score s...

Re: Unwanted ties in 6/8, can I automatically clean this up?
I want them to look like quarter notes, and not like the picture below, with tied eighth notes in between quarter notes (the second measure; the first measure is how I want it to look like). Is there a way to automatically remove the tied eighth notes, or will I have to manually fix them? Set the d...

Do I understand, then, that I will not be able to import the piano MIDI correctly? There is no single correct way of importing it. Re: How do I assign a hand clap sound to a percussion layout
I must have done something wrong, because although I put in the channel changes and low E-flats in the flute part, those measures in the flute part are just silent. I hear the claps in the sample you posted, but not in mine. If you still have some time, do you mind helping me figure out what I did ...

Re: Saving time signatures?
Nick, as a more general question, could there be a way to use JWLua to generate multiple clipboards? Instead of having just the system clipboard, cmd/ctrl c &v? AFAIK there are only two clipboard-related functions in JWLua , both deal with copying text to the system's clipboard. There's no way a JW...

Re: Unwanted window popup with Staff tool shortcut
Just wanted to emphasize that neither the shift key nor the chosen letter key are part of the problem. Only using the Ctrl key leads to the unwanted opening of the dialog. So for me, it's obvious that the Ctrl key is the culprit.

Obviously, the CTRL key is the problem. Using a hotkey without CTRL will make it work.

Re: Why does Finale activate Clavinova demos?
You might try to turn off Human Playback. This is responsible for a lot of additional MIDI data. Although I haven't heard of a possibility to start demo songs via MIDI, it's worth giving it a try. Does turning off HP change anything?

Harald, this is amazing, how far are you with the script? Well, as no one uttered any interest up to now, I did not enhance it in any way. As FinaleScript in general is unable to execute decisions or make use of variables, I suggest you hide all files which should be excluded from processing with the „Hidden“ or „Read only“ file attribute. This should be possible in Windows Explorer. If you search all those files, you can most likely s...

I need to place dynamics above the stave for layer 1 and below, for layer 2. Is there a simply way to do this other than producing two versions of each dynamic with different specified positioning? Yes, there is. Just for illustration, consider this JWLua code snippet: local expressions = finale.FC...

Re: Import SMF, piano just one staff?
You could split the one staff to two staves in Finale, but - assuming the left/right hand split is already done in the Logic tracks - try setting the two Logic tracks to different MIDI channels before exporting. This way, Finale treats the two tracks as seperate instruments.
