Re: I don't understand this Part. 2

… I open split measure and put the number 2 in there. If I understand you correctly, you have this: SplitMeasure-A.jpg - and you need to get to this: SplitMeasure-B.jpg - right? (Click on the attached graphics, to view them at full size) 1) My first guess is that you should put the number 1 in ther...

Re: I don't understand this Part. 2

… In measure 58 there should only be 1 note. No rest. the timing is 6/8. And in measure 57 there should only be the notes. No 8th rest - right? So that measure 57 and measure 58 together add up to a complete 6/8 measure - right? Which means that measure 57 and measure 58 originally were one 6/8 mea...

Re: Lyrics too close to barline

Which of those settings controls this, Peter? … I was referring to the settings in the red rectangle in my screen shot. … I just finished 40 pages of secco recitative on a grand staff with the voice on top and figured bass on the bottom, with barlines between the staves. I used the default document...

Re: how to count

The 6 “quarters” are actually sextuplet sixteenths, filling the last beat of a (slow) 4/4 measure (= the last beat of the half note in the Bass). My guess is that the 6 “quarters” notation indicates a calm, in free tempo, arpeggio effect (a “pyramid” chord). “Pyramid” chords are not uncommon in orga...

Re: Can no longer see the .bundle JW plugins in Finale ...

finalizer,

There are two sets of Finale folder hierarchies, with the same folder names.

One resides in the Library folder at System Level (root level), the other resides in your user account.

Yes, I know.
It can be confusing that you can find similarly named folders in two different places.

Re: 1st and 2nd repeat signs in Finale 2003 (no snickers, please)

I honestly do not recall, what features were available in Finale 2003. The Plug-ins menu should have an icon to the right of the Tools menu. Regarding the Finale plug-ins I can only suggest that you pull down the Plug-ins menu, and explore the menu and its sub-menus. Among the Finale plug-ins there ...

Indeed it is.

Re: Need help transposing pitch without altering the key

To find info about a Finale dialog box, open the online manual. In the Search field, type the name of the dialog box. Then, hit Return. By typing ‘staff transposition’ in the Search field I got to this page in the online manual: http://usermanuals.finalemusic.com/FinaleWin/Content/Finale/ISTRNDLG.ht...

Re: Need help transposing pitch without altering the key

… You mention that there is no need to assign an independent key signature to an instrument with a capo. In a solo work this is true. But If I do not make the signature independent for an instrument with a capo in an ensemble, all the other instruments in the document get transposed. Am I overlooki...

Re: F Cleft for Sax

Indeed that is a good question. A more obvious choice would be the Tenor clef which, with Display in Concert Pitch selected, would place the notes at the same vertical positions as in the original transposed notation, with Treble Clef. Perhaps the Tenor Sax player wants to practise reading in Bass C...

Re: Need help transposing pitch without altering the key

Sorry about the late reply. I have read your post several times, and it makes my brain hurt - poor me! (kidding). … the guitar is written one octave above concert pitch; and Finale automatically assigns the pitch when a G-clef is selected for the instrument … The “automatic” element is that Finale a...

Re: Fingering articulation plays back as a mordent

It is a matter of font character slot #109. In text fonts the lowercase ‘m’ is located in font slot #109. In the music fonts (= Maestro, Broadway Copyist, &c.) the mordent character is located in font slot #109. When ever Human Playback finds a {font character} articulation with character #109, it t...

It is well known that there are problems with Finale and custom shortcut programming in Mac OS Sonoma.

By The Way:
Your post reveals that you have Finale v27.3.

There is a free update to 27.4 - could not hurt to try it.

By default the Sax staff is set to a staff transposition of (Bb) Up M9, Add 2 Sharps, Treble Clef Note the last two words: ‘Treble Clef’ - telling that this staff transposition is “locked” to Treble Clef. Which means that you need to change this {Clef element} of the staff transposition: In the pop ...

I am able to assign an independent key signature to a guitar part with capo on the 2nd fret, so that the notation is in C major but the concert pitch is preserved, playing back a major 2nd higher (D major). I firstly use the Key Signature tool to transpose the guitar track up to D major then in Sco...

How about just one, tied, {double-whole note} in each measure, regardless of the time signature?

Would that layout work for you?

You can use the Tuplet Tool to create each {whole measure note} as a {nothing displaying} tuplet.
