I don't experience that problem in 26. I will try on 27 on my other computer.
Does this happen on every instance, or just occasionally?

Re: using "a piacere"......or......?
Rather than trying to say just the right thing in Italian, my choice would be to put an asterisk on the first flute note and a footnote at the bottom of the page that says basically what you wrote in your original post.

Flip all accidentals
Is there a way to select a range of measures and flip all accidentals from sharp to flat or reverse? I know that it can be done on a limited basis in Speedy and in Note Mover. I expected I could find an answer in JW Change but I don't see it.

If I understand your question, JW Change will switch all notes to rests.

Re: fingering
So it works in the sample you posted, but in another file it doesn't? Try double-clicking one of the fingering numbers in the misbehaving file to open the Articulation Designer. Make sure the settings in the other file are the same as in the one you posted, notable the "Distance from entry" number (...

Are you able to export as XML? If so, do that and then import the file. It's a long shot, but sometimes that will fix a problem.

If Motet's hunch is right, go to Scroll View and it will show the extra staff.

Re: Beams connected to stems on tremolos
I don't understand the problem, so I don't think my suggestion was the right answer. Are you talking about a tremolo on a quarter note, or a tremolo between two quarter notes? Can you post a sample that shows the problem?

Is it possible that the font size of your tremolo has somehow gotten reduced? It should be Maestro size 24.

I think a player would understand it either way, but I do it the way you have it.

Re: Loudness Numbers on Staves
James,
Do you use the Mixer? If you are making sound files then the Mixer would give you much better volume fine-tuning than trying to set keyboard velocity numbers with an expression. But if you need how to do an expression, you can get answer here.

Re: Loudness Numbers on Staves
I think what James wants is a marking that controls volume. This could be done with an expression and under the playback tab have a key velocity number. But frankly, N's suggestion of setting volumes with the mixer makes more sense. Players will respond better to the old fashioned forte and piano th...

If you only have a few to adjust you can go Special Tools > Beam Extension Tool. But if there are a lot of them that might quickly become frustrating.

In a case like this, if you have JW Meter and Rhythm you can over-fill a measure and then create a time signature based on the contents.

Nowadays who would play posthorn? The French Horn player? Trumpet?
I took a temporary trip down the posthorn rabbit hole and found that there is a posthorn symbol in Unicode at U+1F4EF.

Re: Unable to add articulations to older file opened in v26
Are you sure? Scroll down the articulations window and see if what you loaded is there. But unless someone has a solution I'm not aware of, it doesn't help you because it doesn't put the loaded articulations into the slots where you need them.

Re: Beginner piano with accompaniment layout

Maybe there is another...
