You were hoping for a standard way, but I would say that Peter's suggestion is the standard way. If you need help creating or editing a template, post your question here.

Re: slash notation
I would start by searching "slash notation" and "guitar notation" in the manual, then if that leaves you with questions about more complicated stuff you can surely get answers here.

Re: Strange Glitched Quarter Rest
Or it is possible that the quarter rest is an extra beat in the previous measure. Try clearing that measure and see what happens, or just use Speedy and click to the right and see if you find that rest, and delete it.

Re: Creating linked single-line parts AND group parts from same score
And when you generate parts the parts eventually to be combined will end up in the left panel, so after they are combined you will want to delete the individual parts. You don't actually have to delete them, but there's no reason to have them there.

Re: Creating linked single-line parts AND group parts from same score
Okay, you have the three panels. Click the instruments in the right panel you want combined and add to the part in the middle panel. Then you can change the name of that if you want and the new name will show up in the left panel. That's all. Now that combined part will be there under Edit Part. Gen...

Generate Parts does it all from scratch, deleting the choices you made. Once you add an instrument to a part that takes care of it. If you need fuller instructions, let me know.

Document > Manage Parts> Edit Part Definition. If you want multiple instruments in a part select them from the far right pane and Add to Part.

Another option is to notate the trill-to note as a small note head in parentheses.

I don't know if this helps, but if you can identify what you think is your oldest file and go to Score Manager > File Info, it will tell you when it was created.

If you can live with the error pop-ups and you don't care about playback, then I don't think you need to worry. But for me:
You need to go to your iPhone (yes -- iPhone) and Settings > General > Airplay and Handoff > turn off Continuity Camera.

5notechord,
PL3 is beta, so on the purchase page you'll need to use the pop-up to switch to beta to update your version.
I just checked it and yes, it fixes the endings problems.

There is a page break at the top of the second page. If you delete the page break you can move those measures to the bottom of the first page.

The tablature is an octave low. Select the guitar staff and type 9 to transpose up an octave.

Re: Tuplet bracket hooks in opposite directions
If this only happens a time or two you could make the triplet with no bracket (number only) and then create the bracket you need with the Shape Designer. If it happens a lot that would be a huge pain.

You've probably thought of this, but under Bluetooth on the menu bar is the selection correct?
If Bluetooth is de-selected, does it play back correctly through the internal speakers?

Re: move grace notes to trilled note
You can use Special Tools > Note Position Tool to drag them to the other side of the barline.
Also in Speedy, if Jump To Next Measure is turned off you can put the two 16ths at the end of the measure and change them to grace notes. Probably the same thing can be done in Simple.

Lynn,
Now that you have located the Preferences file, it's a good idea to make a copy of it in case that file goes bonkers, which happens occasionally. If it happens you can just drag the copy into that spot.
Glad that you had a happy ending.

Another option is Special Tools > Note Position Tool. That allows you to select multiple notes and nudge with the arrow key. Not as precise as Peter's solution, but maybe quicker.
