Weird notation fonts

It looks like your Finale music fonts aren't installed properly.

Get your Finale install disc, and do a custom install of the music fonts.

How to beam 8th notes in Expression Tool under Tempo Marks

...My goal is to have three beamed eighth notes under a triplet slur/phrase/bracket... Actually it isn't necessary to put a bracket/slur on beamed notes if the triplet number is on the beam side. I suppose that you want upstem notes with a '3' above them, like in Michels example? ...Does this mean ...

"having the fonts loaded once" means "having the fonts loaded once in Mac OS X" (not "loaded once in Finale"). Problems like yours can occur if you have more than one copy of the font installed. In Mac OS X fonts can be installed in many places (as many as 6 places if I recall correctly). The Mac OS...

Like Mike said:
"Make sure that you only have the fonts loaded once, and that the correct music font is selected."

You can use the Mac OS X program FontBook to check your system for duplicate fonts.

How to beam 8th notes in Expression Tool under Tempo Marks

Indeed the "Swing" expression was created as a shape expression (with the shape created in the Shape Designer). One solution to your problem is to duplicate the existing "Swing" expression, and edit the duplicate. It takes some time to learn the Shape Designer, but the Shape Designer is really just ...

Show Active Layer Only

I have the toggle off but I don't see layer 4, also when I copy and paste between staves it erases info from the other layers on the new staff. 1) To avoid that the notes in the other layers get erased, when you copy/paste between staves, "Show Active Layer Only" should be toggled on . What do you mean by your words "nothing changes"? Do you mean that you have toggled "Show Active Layer Only" on, and the notes in the other layers are still visible? When you have "Show Active Layer Only" toggled on, the notes in the other layers should not be visible. Or do you mean that nothing ge...

If I understand you correctly, the playback route should go like this: 1-40 1-12 41-43 From your description it sounds like the jump from the end of measure 12 to the beginning of measure 41 (= "2. x alla Coda #" in my file) doesn't play back?? The attached graphics show my own settings. Note that t...

Ottoman Key Signatures, playback

Hello ozgur, The playback of Ottoman key signatures is really not a problem with Finale, but rather a (big!) problem with the playback device. The built-in soft-synth that comes with Finale, is created for traditional, Western European key signatures where the octave is divided into 12 chromatic hal...

If I understand you correctly, the playback route should go like this:
1-40
1-12
41-43

Take a look at the attached files (Cello108.gif and Cello108.mus.zip).
To un-zip the Finale .mus.zip file you need a utility like e. g. Expander which you can get here:

Left-click play problem

Sounds like a stuck spacebar on the computer keyboard.

Chances are that it's only electronically stuck, not physically stuck.
Therefore: Reboot the computer.

If a reboot doesn't help, try another computer keyboard.

I'm not sure I understand.

Do you mean something like this?

The file is in Finale 2008 format, so you can open it in Finale 2008, but you must un-zip it first.

Where is the TGtools menu?

Since you don't have a Plug-In menu (icon) at all, I suspect that there's something wrong with your Finale 2006 installation.

Have you tried a re-install of Finale 2006?

Are you using the full Finale or one of Finale's smaller siblings (Allegro, PrintMusic, SongWriter, NotePad, Reader)?

Another idea:

Perhaps the Windows computer has some russian Windows fonts that aren't installed on the Mac computer.

With the full Finale there's an option to replace one font with another font.
But I'm afraid PrintMusic doesn't have that feature.

Can you copy the russian Windows fonts to the Mac?

SongWriter can't set up a such document, sorry. You need at least Allegro to get the ability of hiding barlines and frequently changing time signatures. I don't know SongWriter. You can also assign different instruments to different layers.

You can do it via another staff that serves as a "intermediate clipboard". You can only merge one measure at a time, since the trick involves the Note Mover Tool: 1) Above your staff with Layer 1 and Layer 2, insert an empty staff (Staff Tool, highlight the staff with Layer 1 and 2, and go to the St...
