Re: Tuplet weirdness
Actually the behavior of the tuplet tool is even weirder than I realized. When Zoom is set to 100%, the rectangle covers the entire page so the page seems to go white. Then depending on the zoom setting it covers more or less of page. I've tried it on both of my monitors set in landscape as well as ...

Tuplet weirdness
Noticed this for a while now in Finale 25 (but not Finale 27) . When I use the tuplet tool anywhere on the page, a large white area appears on the top left of the page. It disappears with a screen redraw. Is this a known bug in Finale 25?

Re: Slur settings question
N's is nice. I tried it with my default slur settings to see what would happen. Then I touched it up to the point where I would leave it and move on, since life is short. Patterns like this are not easy. If you want to see my settings go to the url I gave in my last post.

Re: Slur settings question
It has to do with the contour of the final few notes. Finale's slurs are not sophisticated enough to deal with complex slur shapes automatically. That is where the user comes in. On the other hand, I find shaping slurs one of the most satisfying parts of music engraving from the visual point of view...

Re: fingering
I tried your attachment and the finger numbers behaved normally. They could be adjusted as desired and they stayed put after adjustment with or without the slur.

Re: recuring issue with small articulation/expression boxes
It's particularly bad for expressions that one designs oneself, like turns with accidentals added or glyphs one adds from another font. They appear much smaller than the default set and are very difficult to read no matter how one enlarges the boxes. I'd say the chances of them fixing this are nil, ...

Re: Music Font missing only from Dialog Box
I recently had an issue with Times New Roman in Finale 27. Just in case that has some relevance:

Re: cluttered
The quarter notes AB - F appear to be in layer 1, and the dotted half died in layer 2. Then how did you tie the bottom two diads? That's what I did. The AB-F and half rest were entered in layer 1. Then a quarter rest and dotted half notes AB entered in layer 2. Then I hid the quarter rest in layer ...

Aside from the slurring style, wouldn't this be better:

Re: Meter Changes and Repeat Signs
A question. Why are you using dotted half rests as whole measure rests? Is that standard in these charts?

David, I queried MM about it at their site. Much of it is still relevant, especially regarding the various bugs, unfortunately.

Re: Dotted 1/4 rest problem
That's what I observed as well. This is something that font designers need to take account of, but probably don't because the dotted quarter rest is little used now. Does no one but me care about the MakeMusic Forum Archive? I have found it to be very useful at times and it is a pity if it is gone p...

Re: Dotted 1/4 rest problem
The problem is superimposing the dotted notes and the dotted rests. Here is the Finale default which is an apparent compromise since the dots don't quite line up at high magnification: Dotted rest and note.png In earlier days the dots were positioned much further from the notes and rests, so there w...

Re: Dotted 1/4 rest problem
I meant that the necessary steps you gave: Choose Moveable followed by Default-Centered moves all the dotted quarter rests back to their default vertical positions. But I may have originally moved some of these rests vertically out of the way of other voices. So I will need to move them back to thei...

Re: Dotted 1/4 rest problem
OMG. That worked. As you said, not something I would have guessed. Perhaps the MM Forum post I referenced also mentioned this? and is the archive still up? The only issue is that it centers ALL the dotted quarter rests, including any that I might have repositioned. So I will have to go through the f...

Re: Dotted 1/4 rest problem
Thank you, Peter. Unfortunately, that places the dots too close to the notes. Dot adjustments hold on reopening when applied to notes, but not to rests. Is this a bug? I searched and see something about such a bug and JW Change but it is a MakeMusic Forum post and that site is not responsive. Has MM...

Dotted 1/4 rest problem
Finale places the dot too far from the quarter rest: Finale default.png Here is what I want: Altered position.png Unfortunately no matter how I change the position of the dot, by hand, by using the dot tool, or JW Change, the dot reverts to the default position when I reopen the file. I just checked...

Re: backwards ties in speedy frame
It doesn't affect the look of the tie in the actual score, just the look of the tie within the editing frame. Just another error that came in several years ago and has not been fixed.

They like it because they don't have to play real quintuplets, but instead alternating triplets and duplets.
