Re: Finale 26 + NotePerformer3

I bought NotePerformer when it was on sale in April. For a quick ‘down and dirty’ playback, it is impressive. Before that, I was exporting as MusicXML and opening in Notion 6 ($79 cross-grade from Finale etc.). I prefer either to GIFF for this.

Re: Converting Pdf Score to Finale

Try PlayScore 2 for iOS. It is very accurate and will scan a whole PDF into MusicXML for a fraction of the cost of a PC scanning program. You can download and try it free. PlayScore 2 for iOS now has much of the functionality of of SmartScore Lite — except at $16 a year. Expressions, lyrics, text.....

Re: Should I upgrade to 26?

The sluggishness of the Mac version on 5K displays appears to have been resolved with 26. I read a note that this may still affect Windows users on hi-res monitors but can't confirm one way or the other.

There are some nice tweaks in 26.1. Nothing earth-shattering or major that I have found.

Really? It's working for me. I didn't have to reauthorize or do anything special.

Perhaps reinstalling might work?

What if there are Mac users reading this — such as the OP as the signature indicates?

What if Musitek actually improves the product after seven years of neglect?

The mind boggles at the possibilities.

Re: Can someone check my score?

A general rule on capitalization and punctuation: Please use them (unless setting ee cummings). This helps the singer with phrasing. In fact, phrase markings and groupings are rarely needed when the words flow like speech as yours clearly do. Singers will normally breathe at commas and periods unles...

Re: Converting scanned music to Finale in 25X

I found this software, called Scanscore: https://scan-score.com/en/ Has anyone used it, and would it be good for this purpose? Appears to be a competitor to Musictek's Music-to-XML ($100). https://www.musitek.com/m2xml.html This is the exact product that was supposed to be bundled with Finale 25 to...

Update: Got a great deal on a used iMac Pro and used Migration Assistant to move everything over from my 2010 a few days ago. After managing my Authorizations, Finale 26 authorized and is working great. 2014.5 and PrintMusic 2014.5, on the other hand, crashed upon authorization. Reinstalling and reb...

Re: Lyrics. Problem with hyphens.

The original example is quite common in old liturgical music—the language doesn’t matter. The engraver spaced the words and notes so that everything is clear and easy to read. Hyphens were used to preserve note spacing over short words. Even though it is not the modern practice as Zulli laid it out,...

Re: Creating Books for Musical Theater...page numbers.

What am I missing? I do not know how many shows I played (and conducted) over 40 years but I don’t recall one where the instrumental part books were numbered from page one to the end. Piano/vocal scores, yes. Conductor’s scores, sometimes but not the players’ books. There’s a good reason for that. T...

Re: Import .pdf to Finale 2014.5

How well does Finale 25/26 run over 32 bit Windows? Oh wait... That's the opposite situation from what I'm talking about, which is Apple refusing to run 32-bit applications on a 64-bit processor. 64-bit Windows runs old versions of Finale just fine (I still have Finale 2005). Macs and Windows machi...

Re: Import .pdf to Finale 2014.5

I'm surprised and a little disgusted that the newer versions of MacOS won't run 32-bit applications, if true. It’s not. It will be with the next OS. Apple first announced this was coming in 2012 and the can has been kicked down the road many times. Year before last, they announced it’s really happe...

Re: DAW with Finale 25 (Mac)

Many have 30 day demos. "Best" is subjective. Logic Pro is very good and only $200 but supports AU only—no VST or VST3. Others might not support AU. One way is to link to Finale 25 and 26 to your DAW through Rewire. The other way is to export your files via MIDI or MusicXML and import them into your...

Re: External Sound Cards for iMac

That’s not how Macs work. You can get external units for audio in/out. They’re not going to make Garrittan sound any better. A monitor controller and decent pair of monitors. The 2009 Mac has excellent audio but you need to hear it. A monitor controller and decent pair of monitor speakers will give ...

Any sampler can do this in conjunction with any decent DAW. I use Digital Performer and have my nudge setting at one millisecond.

Doing it from notation... I can’t imagine how one would approach it.

Ok, mine can if I plug in external drives and boot from them — but not and also run 26.
