Re: score merger joys. Need less tedious fixes

1. JW Measure Numbers (http://www.finaletips.nu/index.php/download). That does global measure number stuff, so it might help. 2. JW Start New Piece (Same link, make sure you have each system laid out already with the correct number of measures in each system) 5. JW Start New Piece (Will be fixed at ...

Re: Inserting both Title and Part Name on parts

Perhaps the easiest way to do this is to start creating a text object with a text tool. 1. Create a text object 2. Text > Inserts to get your inserts. Here is where you'd also type the dash in between the two 3. Right click on the text object > Edit Frame Attributes 4. Page Range: 2 through 0 5. Pos...

Re: Notating Harp Glissandos

If you are only using 7-tuplets, you might want to consider using a JW Lua script. This will do all the correct notation automatically.

Jari created a tutorial on how to do this:

Hope this helps

Thanks Peter. That fixed it. I'm curious then how come looking in the Hard Drive path used to work.

Whatever the case, saving in the User path works.

Document Styles in Finale 26.01

Hi there, I just updated to the Finale 26 update and I am no longer able to update document styles. I'm on a Mac. I used to have no problem with it. Now, any new document I create will have the version I saved a week ago. It's not the default. And I've double checked and the document style file is s...

The website claims that Finale is 1GB with 8GB extra needed for the included Garritan sounds.

In addition to what Peter said, to get the "missing beat", just enter a quarter rest and hit H to make it hidden.

Re: Plugin makers: How did you learn?

Agreed. Go with JW Lua. I've used it quite a bit myself. You won't need to learn a whole new language if you can already code. You will need to learn the basics of lua, though if you already know another language, that should take 10-15 minutes. By far the hardest part is learning the available clas...

What do you mean by 4 transposition metatools? Are those the numbers 6, 7, 8, 9 that you can use to transpose by step or octave? If not, what are you thinking of?

Re: Import Libraries

Libraries are a way from keeping Finale documents from getting bloated. Basically, the expressions, dynamics, articulations, etc. are document specific and are not applied to all Finale documents. If each of these documents had all these, the size of even an empty document would get unwieldy. It wou...

Finale 26 Icon Fix

Anyone else think that the new icon is a huge eyesore? Or already downloaded the demo and now the old icon is gone? Here's a fix! I attached a modified version of the new icon to so it looks 5x better (more or less. The number is arbitrary). Additionally, here's how to fix the icon on a Mac once and...

Re: OT question, regarding dedications

Similar things aren't unheard of. Each movement of Elgar's enigma variations is dedicated to a different person.

I've believe I've also played a Tichelli piece where the middle slow movement was dedicated to a particular person while the entire piece was dedicated to the performer.

No Speedy Entry in Parts

So lately I've not been able to access speedy entry in the linked parts on some documents. I haven't really worried about it because I haven't needed to use it until now. I can't find any pattern between the files that I can't use speedy entry in the parts because even brand new files will have diff...

Could there be hidden whole rests?

Also, if that doesn't work, you can manually make and break the multimeasure rests. Edit > Multimeasure Rests

The easy way to add real whole rests is to use the Plug-in.

Highlight the measures

Score List 2, 3, 4…

Does anyone have experience using Score Lists beyond Score List 1?

I've tried using it just now and every time I select another score list, the expressions category resets to Score List 1. It would be nice to have multiple score lists.

Re: Best way to resize busy gliss. notes

If you use JW Lua, I'd recommend Jari's harp gliss script for this:

You just have to insert a 7-tuplet and then run the script. Everything is formatted correctly.

You're on a Mac, so figuring something out using Keyboard Maestro or Automator shouldn't take too long to do. Automator is even built in to a Mac.

Both of these are designed to automate repetitive tasks like batch creation of PDF files.

Hi Jan,

I've been watching this plug-in for years now. When are you finally going to release it? Even if it's buggy, it literally solves almost every pain point with Finale.
