Re: How can I have two scores open at the same time?

I suspect that the problem is a Windows problem. Anyway, you do not have to have two Finale documents open at the same time. You can open one document, select the relevant region, and copy to the (Finale) Clipboard. Then, close the document, open the other document, select, and paste. Also, you can ...

Let me get this straight:

You are talking about unnecessary dynamics in the layout - right?

You are not talking about unnecessary dynamics in the Expression Selection window - right?

Re: Articulations and slurs stacking not working

Welcome to the forum!

1) You have posted in the forum for hardware issues, but I suspect that this issue is data specific. Read on:

2) Your example could be a (missing) .FAN file issue.
Check the .FAN files for the music font(s} used in the project.

I checked all the templates for my own copy of Finale v27.4.1.146 - that is, I opened each template, went to the File Info chiclet, and looked at the field for “Score Name’ Insert. No sign of ‘a piacere’ anywhere. I found it in a new document based on the Choral (Finale Maestro) template. Screensho...

Re: how to prevent adding a measure at the end when editing last measure

You are using Finale v27 - right?

And you are entering music with the Simple Entry Tool - right?

Take a look in
Simple Entry Tool > Simple menu > Simple Entry Options…
Is the option
Create New Measures
selected or de-selected ?

I suspect file corruption.

Does it happen in all Finale documents - or only in some documents?

Could you attach here (for the gurus to examine) a Finale document with the problem?

Re: Sorting the list of expressions into alphabetical order

I am sorry, but I do not know of a fast solution. First of all, I would use many custom expression categories. Having {a gazillion expressions all in the same category} is a nightmare - even if they are sorted alphabetically. Next, I would create a custom template, with all the expressions organized...

jose oscar,

Unfortunately I do not have v25 installed anymore.

I opened your attached Finale document in my v26 - and I did not experience your problem with disappearing A’s.

See the attached Finale document (in v26 format).

jose oscar,

1) I am unable to reproduce your problem.
For me, no A’s disappeared.
I suggest that you attach a (small) Finale document, for the gurus to examine.

2) Here is a slightly different version of the layout:

Re: Problems using tablature

trvd1707 , Oh dear, your Finale document is a mess - many things are wrong. I wonder how you created it. 1) Go to Window menu > ScoreManager > Instrument List If you - in the Instrument List - click on one of the TAB staves, then you will see that the TAB staff has a Transposition: (C) Up Octave A T...

I suppose that you have both single slash and double slash in the same Finale document - right ?

I would use the Slash Notation staff style for the single slashes, and custom expressions for the double slashes.

True, but “Center Over/Under Music” works on all measures - including measures that happen to be the first measure of a system.
Which means that you can freely push measures up/down between systems.

Re: Plug in question

For that very reason I do not use the plug-in.

Instead I edited the expressions created by the plug-in, and saved the edited expressions as a library.

When-ever I need to number repeated measures, I load my library, and use the expressions from the library.

Re: Make measures taller without formatting issues?

I suppose that all systems are locked - right? When you make the staves bigger, the notes, too, will get resized, and the music spacing will get tighter. To avoid a too tight spacing it may be necessary to decrease the number of measures in each system - so that you get more systems/pages. Something...

Re: Placement of grace note slashes

1) Your attached graphic is confusing. I thought that grace notes should take upstems, regardless of their vertical position. But your graphic show one upstem grace note, and one downstem grace note. I do not understand why one is upstem and the other is downstem; they seem to have the same vertical...

Re: Score format changing in mid-score

Indeed there is a fix. Take a good look at the default format for new pages/systems: Document menu > Page Format > Score… Make sure that the {Page Format for Score} settings are as needed. Editing/correcting the settings will not affect already existing pages/systems. This is by design, and what use...

Re: tie 2 syllables

I am not sure I understand. You can tie two notes, but in this case there is only one note. To attach the two syllables ‘na’ and ‘y’ to the same note, separate them by a non-breaking space character - instead of separating them by the normal, breaking, space character. Windows text fonts have a “non...

Re: Notation question - 'a2' divisi in brass for flex-orchestra?

… I imagine I would need to use 'tutti' once the brass parts all come together on the same note, after 'divisi'? … Most musicians do not speak italian; they will understand ‘Tutti’ - even if it is not entirely correct. To notate correctly: 1) Use ‘Tutti’ to cancel ‘Solo’. ‘Tutti’ means ‘All’. 2) Us...
