No, you can't change the percussion map in PM. Sorry.

You would be able to load a Finale doc with a different map, but I'm not sure if/how that would work.

You can still create a default document. Save it as an FTM. If you name it Maestro Font Default, and put it in the component styles folder, it will launch from Default Document. If you use the wizard, you have to alter the docs in the Document Styles folder. Or, give it a name like My Template, and ...

I think you need to spend some time with the tutorials. Layers are one of the most basic, and most powerful, features of the program. The help files, videos, and turorials explain it much better than I can.

You will have to use layers, and put the C in one, and the dotted A in another.

Re: Copying Page Layout

I tried to find this thread of no avail. Forgive me if this is a repeat. I have finale 2009 and I was wondering if I can copy page layout. I have a 200+ page book to write and it would be nice not to have to layout each page. Set up the page layout the way you want it, with no notes or other entrie...

Use the 2008 template. You will absolutely not mess up the program. Many people use templates that they bring forward for years.

I would submit that to MM as a bug. They won't do anything for this version, but maybe next year...

I don't know about the Finale way, but you can certainly do it the PrintMusic way: Page Layout>Allow Individual Staff Spacing Staff Tool> each staff will show two boxes at the left end>click in the lower box and hit DELETE. The staff will go away in that system. If you make a mistake, deselect Allow...

From a member of the "other" forum: The 'ag' designation represents "aggressive" which describes the sound emanating from brass instruments when they are forcefully played. The sounds are often characterized by varying degrees of "raspy" harshness or "edginess" which become more pronounced as they b...

No problem. Open the instrument list, and use the center column drop down. Select New Instrument (it's at the top; you may have to scroll up to see it.) In the next dialogue box, at the bottom, select your new instrument. Note that this is where you can change channels, too. Strictly speaking, you d...

Finale is pretty complicated to figure out as you go. Why not take the time to do the tutorials and watch the videos? It will save you a LOT of frustration.

Yes. Click the staff tool, then, in the Staff menu, New Staves... will take you to the Wizard, where you can add the new instrument. By default, the new instrument will be added at the bottom. If you want it above an existing staff, click the staff tool, click in the box at the upper left of the sta...
