Thank you HaraldS. I'm not familiar with Lua scripts. How do they work?

Dashed hairpins?
Is there an easy way (plugin?) to create dashed hairpins in Finale? I need them to indicate editorial additions to a score. The alternative would be square brackets enclosing the hairpins, but this becomes awkward when there is only one hairpin (i.e., only crescendo or diminuendo) and not the two of...

Re: slur leading into 2nd time bar of repeat
Thanks everyone for your replies; you've been a great help. The example provided by motet is exactly the sort of thing I'm talking about. I've now managed to create the slur by 'dragging backwards'. The end result isn't perfect by I can play around with the curvature later.

Re: slur leading into 2nd time bar of repeat
Thanks for your reply. I'm talking about a slur. Since a slur is normally created by clicking on the first of the notes to be slurred, I cannot do that in this case (the slur begins in the bar preceding the 1st and 2nd time bars and extends to the first note in both the 1st and 2nd time bars). The s...

slur leading into 2nd time bar of repeat
If the first note in the 2nd time bar of a repeat is under a slur (from the bar preceding the 1st time bar), how is it possibile to indicate this? Hidden notes?

Re: Measured tremolo in Human Playback...
Many thanks for your reply, fratveno. That makes sense; I've noticed that in slower tempos HP does in fact interpret the // symbol as measured tremolo.

Measured tremolo in Human Playback...
Is it possibile to get Human Playback to perform measured rather than unmeasured tremolo? It interprets the // marking as a very fast unmeasured tremolo, whereas I would like to hear this performed as semiquaver repetitions of the same note.

Articulations appearing as (greyed out) notes in score
I don't really know how to explain this problem; certain articulations, namely trills, turns and tremolo, appear fully notated (for example a series of demisemiquavers for a trill) in my score, but they are greyed out. In the case of tremolo, I cannot edit the notes bearing the tremolo symbol, or ad...

Re: Flip tremolo symbol
Thanks very much for all of your replies. I am still using Finale 14.5, but I've now managed to position the tremolo symbol above the semibreves.

Flip tremolo symbol
I have many bars with violins playing tremolo semibreve chords; the tremolo symbol appears beneath the chords, and I would like to position it above them. Is there an easy way to do this? I've tried editing the articulation definition , but this does not work, and I have to manually reposition the s...

how to indicate multiple staccato markings over single note
I am transcribing an early nineteenth century piece, and the string parts contain endless repeated quavers generally notated as minims with a single horizontal stroke through the stem (tremolo symbol). At times these minims have four staccato strokes above them to indicate that each of the four quav...

how to change vertical positioning of articulations already in score
How is it possible to change the vertical positioning of ALL instances of a particular articulation (in this case staccato strokes, both normal position and flipped) that are already in my score? It would take ages to edit each one individually. I've seen that 'Edit Articulation Definition' also eff...

Problems with Da Capo al Segno...
I'm editing a late eighteenth-century rondo which has numerous repeated sections that are followed by a Da Capo indication (it's actually a D.C. with the 'segno', but the symbol is superfluous as it is placed above the first bar). I was wondering if someone could help me with the editing of the repe...

I'm adding the finishing touches to a document, and am trying to organise the layout so that there are 4 systems on each page. On the last two pages, there are 3 systems and 1 system respectively, and I cannot move the single system across to the page with 3 systems. I've noticed that all of these s...

Re: playback doesn't work after changes to audio settings
Just by chance, I've managed to solve this problem. It turns out that my microphone was switched off in Windows privacy settings!! Maybe this solution will be of use to other users, seeing as the same issue is apparently experienced by a number of people.

playback doesn't work after changes to audio settings
I have a brand new laptop, and used Finale (14.5) on it for the first time yesterday. Everything was going okay, except for the volume which was very low. I started experimenting with the various audio settings and, lo and behold, Finale no longer starts playback; the green cursor remains above the ...

I've tried just about everything, from editing measure number regions to changing staff attributes, but nothing seems to solve the problem, and the measure numbers...

Does anyone know what the default dynamic is for playback if no dynamic symbol is actually present? Is it f, mf, mp, mf ? And what key velocity does that correspond to?

possibility of playing notes outside standard range?
Is it possibile to get Finale (Aria Player) to play notes outside the standard range of an instrument? In my case I'm referring to the bass extension of the harpsichord. Many French 18th century harpsichords had a bass range descending as low as G1 with Finale any notes below C will not play. Is the...
